[Show spoiler]One thing that was odd , Zod who on earth was a super being , wanted to change the earth until he had no powers at all . I think I would just keep earth the way it was and stay a super being .

Wow, dragging Man of Steel down to the level of Transformers? Thats going too far.

As for those who say
[Show spoiler]Superman never kills, did it bother you when Christopher Reeves killed Zod in Superman II, Lois killed Faora in Superman II, and Brand Routh pretty much killed several Lex Luthor Henchman when raising the island in Superman Returns?

Iron Man 3 was very humerous. Especially that scene. How did that turn out?
as for the info in your spoiler, you're wrong, there is a deleted scene of them (Zod, Ursa, and Non) being taken away by the police.

Iron Man 3 had Robert Downey Jr whose charisma more than makes up for some of the films shortcoming. Man of Steel sadly had nothing like that to fall back on.

also for the discussion of the music, Zimmer scores is awful. that's no surprise, his scores are often junk. Even if he was halfway as talented as he is popular to those directors who don't get film music, making a score to rival William's Superman score is beyond his ability.

Well the Batman I know doesnt look like hes 28, drives a Lamborghini as a personal car with a tank as a batmobile, and has 4 blondes hanging onto his shoulders like in Batman Begins. Somehow people were fine with that. Eventually I was able to overlook it as just a new interpretation of the character. Hopefully others can do the same here.

Some nice touches to the movie I think many overlooked
[Show spoiler]Notice how many times he bled in the movie (on the Krypton ship, after the Krypton machine attacked him) and showed fear (Kryptons coming to pick him up, walking to fight Faora). He may be super powerful, but those touches brought him down to earth
that's the one thing I had to tell my sister - Superman has been reinvented so many times and everytime he is, there are changes so it isn't going to be the same as you remember. I mean, I think people would be disappointed if we got a "true" Superman movies that went back to the roots as you would lose so many things that people just take for granted now(a Superman who can't fly?).

Link to your IMDB page please? I'd like to compare your accomplishments in the industry to Zimmer's before I make a comment.

Ah, the old "you can't comment because you don't do the same job" argument.

I work with dozens of people who suck at their jobs. They're still considered professionals.

Which is why his costume doesn't get holes in it much when he's shot at.

But you may be onto something, because I think that the telekinesis is somehow related to the aura -- Either way, that may indeed be one of the two powers that was never seen in a Superman movie before.

[Show spoiler]I believe he was just making a cave-like entrance using his heat vision.

Zimmer won a academy award, Zimmer is awesome! Backdraft was made in the 1991 and I can still remember it like it was yesterday. IMO his MOS score is better than the Superman score

John Williams has 5 Academy Awards.

Not that that makes a big difference.

That's a deleted scene...meaning, it doesn't exist in the film. Superman let three villains die in Superman 2.

Right, but a guy with 9 Oscar nominations and a win isn't the same thing as a reality tv show. If you don't like his work that's fine, but to say Zimmer's scores are often junk is to ignore years of clear evidence to the contrary.

And before someone gets clever and mentions where the Oscars got it wrong once or twice, he has 10 Golden Globe noms with two wins there. The people that do this for a living have said over and over and over that his work is the opposite of "junk".

Therefore, if someone wants to disagree with overwhelming evidence and peer accolades when making a statement I suppose it would be fair to ask what their qualifications or experiences might be to know what value that opinion should hold.

Better yet, compare Zimmer's page to John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith, James Horner, John Barry, Elmer Bernstein, and dozens of other composers (even John Ottman) who actually made MUSIC and not synthetic background noise for films like this.

Hearing someone think this music is better to me is like hearing someone say Lil' Wayne is a better singer than Pavarotti.

We like what we like, dude.

I can acknowledge that Williams' score for Superman the Movie is a masterwork. No doubt about that. I can also acknowledge how Zimmer's score for Man of Steel makes me feel...and I think this score is quite nice. It fits the film beautifully.

I'm surprised that this is even an argument. One of the first things in the trailers that always got me amped for the film was HZ's swelling score. It defines 'epic'.
