Kinda strange that some releases like Lilo and Stitch get the bare bones treatment, whereas Sleeping Beauty - which already had a great release, presumably gets an even greater release.
Disney is like God - works in mysterious ways. |

![]() I'm considering this one an anomaly, like Peter Pan being added to the DVD Platinum list to cross-promote the Tinker Bell movie. Still, should put them on the right foot for starting the "Movies You Missed" reissue line. Quote:
Which means it's one more week till I can use mine. Last edited by EricJ; 06-18-2013 at 11:43 PM. |

O...kay...? I guess the strategy makes sense: Maleficent in theaters March, Maleficent on Blu-ray June, Sleeping Beauty on Blu-ray October. If that's the case, though, what's happening with Aladdin and 101 Dalmatians? Are they just going to be released as non-Diamonds next year (like the rest of the world's already gotten), or will they be the 2015 ones? If it's the former, does that mean Pinocchio's coming March 2015 and Snow White will kick start a new collection October that year?
I've already got the Platinum and am 100% satisfied with it. I can only see this release becoming a downgrade based on the way Disney's been handling its films on home video. I wouldn't be surprised to see them drop Cine Explore, the galleries, all the interactive features, and only try to squeeze the featurettes onto one disc (who knows what'll happen to the HD vintage materials). They'd have to come up with something amazing to get me to double-dip (like extensive live-action reference footage found in the vault or something). Even then, I'd still hold onto my old set for the inevitable dropped features. As for cover art, I wouldn't be surprised to see them use the potential leaked art from the Platinum (the one in the middle of the lineup): ![]() Which itself was inspired by the Deluxe Edition laserdisc: ![]() They finally used Cinderella's leaked Platinum art of her holding the slipper when doing the Diamond Edition, so it seems likely they'll go a similar route with Sleeping Beauty, especially to visually tie it in with Maleficent. |

They changed it already? Because I bought the re-issue of Monsters, Inc. on release day, went home & entered the code online & printed out the free movie ticket to see Monsters University on June 21st or until July 31st.

I can see Disney possible giving Sleeping Beauty a 3D Conversion, but the film already was given a beautiful 4K restoration for the Platinum Edition Blu-Ray and the picture & sound quality is already damn perfect. I really don't know how they can improve upon that for a re-release.

On a similar note, I could see them changing their minds if Maleficent bombs and Disney sees no value in further promotion. |

![]() Still, I'm in for Sleeping Beauty on Diamond Edition, although I'll be holding on to my Platinum Edition. |

But I go back to this: http://www.dvdizzy.com/diamondcollec...ease-0910.html. I still say we end up with Fantasia as the final Diamond, so Spring '16, and then Snow White back in the fall. Idk though. Quote:
I know Europe got that, but I just don't see it. Now with it being fairly close, I'm debating if I still want a Platinum. I kind of do - just for the good bonus features. And the BD set without the DVD can be had for $15. Last edited by akayw0718; 06-19-2013 at 01:37 AM. |

All this talk only emphasizes the fact the the Diamond line is subject to change without notice and no release is gauranteed until it arrives in stores. |
