Default PS3 playing BD at 480I?

Why am only getting 480I out of the PS3? I have a 1080I projector screen Mitsubishi. I get 1080I from the HD channels.

There is no HDMI cable input for my tv. So I am using the 5 color set.

go through the video setup on the ps3 and check the boxes that say your capable to do 720p and 1080i. then you should be able to output hd.

5 color/component cable can only give you up to 480p so not unless you upgrade your tv (HDMI input) youre not gonna get higher res than that.

I see this all the time, you Americans with your resolution fussy electronics.

In the UK most if not all HDTV's and projectors are now fully compatible with 1080p even if their native is resolution is less than that.

go to system settings>display settings and check all the resolutions your TV or projector supports. Component input supports 1080i on the PS3.

You also want to make sure your connection setting is Y BR YB or whatever it is, im sure it is though since your getting a pic.

regards,

Richard.

I also have a 1080i TV (it's almost 4 years old) and I have the same problem when I play COD4. For some reason, the ps3 plays the game in 720p. I actually have to go to my settings and uncheck the 480 and 720 options for the game to display in 1080i. It just does that on that game, but it is kind of a pain to have to adjust my settings before and after I paly the game.

720p and 1080i is nearly equal so its not like youre display is getting worse,i prefer 720p more since it looks much more sharper to me
