Thanks for putting it so rudely. I just guessed that they did being that in the back of my Onkyo manual that they had a higher measurement for the watts in Europe and Asia. I figured that the fact I put I THINK in my post that I was referring to the fact I was not sure.

sorry, didn't mean for it to come off sounding rude, but re-reading it, I guess it did. I was actually curious to as whether they rated things differently, and if so, how they measured it, because Watts are based off of other measurements...... wasn't saying you were incorrect, and still, I say "I just don't know" either.... could be different, but it'd be news to me (not necessarily shocking news though) |

You are correct about watts. Its the frequencies and ohms that are different. The US measurement they use is at 20 Hz to 20 kHz at 8 ohms and the European and Asian measurement is at 1 kHz and 6 ohms.

The 606 doesn't compare to the Pioneer 92 or the 805 as it only has 90w per channel. If you've got the jack for one of the others, make it work and don't settle for the 606 because it fits.
![]() I agree with Beta Man. Make sure you've got at least 8" of clearance above the receiver for proper ventilation. Last edited by Bluray_ne1; 04-18-2008 at 07:32 PM. |

I may be purchasing this receiver a litter bit later in the year. I really wanted a Denon, either the 2803CI or 2808CI, but they're so expensive and they only have 2 HDMI inputs. My dad's got a Denon reciever and it sounds crazy good, but I don't have the same cash that he does.

by Steven Kim, posted Apr 23rd 2008 at 11:05AM Onkyo TX-SR606 Onkyo has continued to roll "X06" updates across its receiver lineup. Last month we heard about the TX-SR576 and TX-SR506 models, and now we get the TX-SR606 (not to be confused with the TX-SA606X). Apparently Onkyo wasn't too eager to mess with the success of last year's TX-SR605 receiver, the new model adds 1080i upscaling, two more HDMI inputs (making a total of four), and trades off Neural Surround in favor of Audyssey Dynamic EQ and Onkyo's Music Optimizer processing. The amplifier section and pricing look to be the same, which isn't a bad thing on either count: $579 (MSRP) nets you 90-Watts across 7 channels, all backed by the heavy transformer cores Onkyo is known for. Available any day now, this might look good with your stimulus check; or consider picking up a TX-SR605 on the cheap. |
