North Face - Blu-ray Forum

Not sure if this is the proper place for this since it has not had a North American release (Bluray) yet but I just rented and watched the dvd "North Face". Great movie if you are into man vs. nature movies, mountain climbing, historical dramas, etc. I don't want to say much more if you do not know the story. With that said after watching the dvd I proceeded to order the blu from Amazon UK. I got it for 5.90 pounds or $9.42 U.S. It's in German with English subtitles if that matters to you. Check it out.

*After reading into it a little more it looks like the special features are SD and PAL so it looks like they might not be viewable.

Quick question, I noticed that there are Blu-ray releases from Germany, Sweden, and the UK. Is the same master used, or is one release better than the other two?

I'm not sure, it was more of an impulse buy for me as I had just watched the dvd (which looked pretty good upconverted on my system) and liked it enough to look into getting a bluray copy. Been meaning to get "Solomon Kane" from Amazon UK for awhile so I went ahead and ordered both. Someone here may know more about transfers and releases to answer your question.

fwiw, the UK release looked and sounded great. I doubt the others would be all that different. And for sure you get English subtitles with the UK version. (And the price is right.)

i have the metronome bd from a few years ago ... wowowow ... this is a way cool movie and disc
