United Kingdom Will there be a Friday the 13th set?

Are there any plans to release the recently announced Friday the 13th boxset here in the UK? Would be much easier than importing with customs etc. Any information would be appreciated!

I guess it depends on whether or not the WB/Paramount deal was worldwide or just in the US.

Having said that, WB did let Paramount put part 1 in the 8 disc set released on DVD before the deal happened so there's a chance I suppose. Disney lets Fox have Die Hard With A Vengeance for any boxsets, yet still releases it themselves for individual sale. There's also been a couple of Halloween sets even though the movies are shared in the UK by Anchor Bay, Santuary and Disney.

Time will tell.

Well you in luck mate, Digitalbits.com has just announced the following :

"All right, the big catalog news from the last week is that Warner and Paramount are releasing Friday the 13th: The Complete Collection on Blu-ray on 9/13 (SRP $129.95 – it’s just $91 on Amazon). The set will include all 10 original films plus Freddy vs. Jason and the 2009 remake (7 of which are new to Blu-ray), 11 hours of all-new extras, a Killer Bonus DVD disc with additional extras, a 40-page book with excerpts from Crystal Lake Memories, a Cam Crystal Lake counselor patch and limited tin packaging".

The Warner Bros/Paramount deal only applies to the US, but hopefully something gets worked out.

Would be nice.

Even though I haven't yet got round to picking up the Nightmare On Elm Street Blu-ray Boxset, a Friday The 13th Blu-ray Boxset would also be on my Blu-rays to buy list

I emailed Warner the other day about this.
Their response:

Quote:
I’m sorry but unfortunately there are currently no scheduled dates for a blu-ray release here in the UK.
However, it is possible there could be a release in the future as the catalogue is currently under review.

Even if there is a UK release I don't think I can wait!

If there is a UK release, then I think there would be more practical (and better, more simple!)

Has anyone heard or worked out how much this would cost to import? Are thre likely to be extra charges?

I already have the US imports of one - three so I hopefully four will get a stand alone release and then I can get the others if needed. They do go downhill pretty quickly.

I only like 1, 2, 4, 6, Jason X, Freddy vs Jason & the somewhat recent Bay production. So I'd personally just be happy to settle for separate releases of 4, 6 & Jason X.

Edit: Would obviously prefer uncut versions where possible....

The original Friday 13th part 3D was always my favourite and House of Wax aside is the only 3D film I ever enjoyed. The opening titles flying over the heads of the audience made it with the price of admission alone.

Jason X? I had I idea the series lasted that long, I'll have to watch that as soon as possible

Really want this.
It looks like a fantastic release.
If no UK release date planned, I will pick it up on my (hopeful) trip to Boston in April (really need to speak to me mate about that this week!!).

I had asked paramount UK about the bluray and got this response

Quote:
There are no plans at the moment, however we will pass your request on to the Paramount Home Entertainment Team.

You should have asked those comedy folk running Paramount Pictures UK operation why it is they still aren't bothering to release so many of their own films on Blu-ray in the United Kingdom, before you asked them to release three titles from Warner Brother's catalogue and one from Pathe's.

the DVD boxset in the UK was released by Paramount, no reason why they couldn't do the same again on bluray. other than they could not be arsed

That was the DVD box set though, which only contained films 1-8.

It's possible that the agreement between Paramount and Warner Bros. allows for a future UK Blu-ray release of those 8 films, the ones currently contained within the UK DVD box set, but it's not an absolute given that this is the case.

Plus Paramount's UK staff really can't be arsed.

Thumbs down Postage

Pretty shit that there is no planned u.k. release though hardly surprising. If you had this imported from the states you are guaranteed additional charges as anything with a value of £15 or over is opened at customs with a minimum charge of £11 or thereabouts.
