I don't think that's true, the singer from Cracker actually shows screenshots of what he got paid Q4/12 just for the song "Low" as the songwriter:

Pandora - $16.89
Sirius XM - $181.00
Terrestrial - $1522.00

It's too bad that Sirius/XM has to pay so much. If weren't for them, I wouldn't have bought as much music as I have.
Because of the choices in my hometown i.e. FM radio, along with what I was seeing on our video music channels, I thought Rock Music had died. I hadn't bought a cd in what seemed like years. Once I got satellite radio though, that changed and I bought more music than I had ever bought before.
I'm not crazy about the compression, but I'll take that over not having anything to listen to.

On topic, I can't get Pandora so I shouldn't really comment on that.
