I don't know if this is intentional or unintentional, but Christopher Reeve's face slightly made it into MoS via CGI:

I have to disagree with those that say the Burton Batman films haven't aged well. Like Snyder he DOES have a polarizing style of film-making but to me those have been the definitive Batman films to date, well Batman Begins too I guess. Among those that think the 1989 film was the first movie to really kick the door down for comic book movies, even if it was X-Men and Spider-Man in the early 2000s that really got the ball rolling.

But they also don't say it either, they can say if they died without any "ratings penalty". In any case, "PG" was quite a bit more liberal back then anyway. Remember it took the much more extreme violence of Gremlins and Temple of Doom before they changed things.

I grew up with the first two Superman's but lets face it, just like with the Burton Batman films, they just haven't aged well. This is Superman of a whole new era, and that's the way it should be. Look what copying Donner's style with Superman Returns did...

I was a little worried about the British Henry Cavill playing such a huge American icon, but I thought he was perfect. He had a nice balance between small town boy and confident superhero. Amy Adam's Lois Lane was just as brave and smart as I would expect, she's not one to be fooled by glasses. Jor El's role was surprisingly big and pretty cool, there's no mistaking him for Kal's birth father. Zod was always my favorite part about the originals, Zod here is just plain scary. Faora....mmmm Faora...sorry.

It may not be a perfect movie (what movie is?), but its definitely a movie Superman deserved. A lot of people hold a certain image of this incredible character, if it doesn't match it they are disappointed. Nolan and Snyder went a new direction, and I loved it. Superman's origin is tragic, the films darker tone conveyed it very well. I very much look forward to future entries, and can't freakin' wait for the blu-ray.

Sorry agree to disagree. I feel that 1 and 2 are clearly the best, 3 and 4 are clearly the worst, and MoS and Returns are close together but far, far away from 1 and 2.

I think Amy Adams was woefully underutilized, and really all of the actors were, due to a weak script and focus on action over character.

But Superman II was really a kids movie. So that being said, they wanted to keep it lighthearted. Even mentioning death, would have made it too dark. So they left it open, so the majority of people knew they died, but parents could tell their kids "Oh don't worry Billy, Superman didn't kill them, they were just thrown into the Superman prison under the fortress of solitude."

Which I think is why some people on this forum admittedly believe they survived. Your parents lied to you, accept it.

I didn't really think about it when I was a kid but back then I didn't really have a handle on concepts like life and death. Still need to get the set of Superman 1, 2 and Returns on BD, even if I won't really watch 1 ever.

They are all amazing on Blu. Hell I even loved 3 & 4.

4's deleted scenes are hilarious if you haven't seen them yet.

I haven't read anything that states that they did a homage to Reeves. Remember, Supes is under the World End machine - so his face is being altered. If you see Reeves in there, I think it's unintentional. I don't see him but that's cool you do.

Can you just give us a brief synopsis, too lazy to watch an 11 minute review, even for my favourite film so far of 2013 and I really don't see anything else atm that will top it. Still a lot of movies left that I will see though so that could change.

Another thing I seemed to notice that I haven't seen anyone else mention so it is probably my imagination, but both viewings I was almost sure that when Superman was in the energy beam prior to destroying the terra forming machine there is a brief moment as he is looking up that his face morphs to Christopher Reeves for a brief moment. I swear I'm not making it up. I noticed it both viewings. It was probably just my imagination, but I was wondering if anyone else noticed the same thing?

It's definitely unintentional according to this article. But it does really look like Reeve near the end of the gif.

No, it's not fan created. It's in the film, and is what we had spoken about in earlier posts. I've seen the film twice, and looked for it upon 2nd viewing, it's not deceptive.
