30 Days of night is a fantastic refreshing take on a bored predictable genre (apart from one certain scene/action )

I am Legend is fantastic during the day scenes, great performance from Smith but in my opinion they should have gone with actors not CG for the monsters/Vamps/thingys whatever you want to call them!

i imagine they both look great on blu ray 30 days of night was flawed but fun i think i Am Legend is a better film but i just like 30 days more.

Fun fact Mike Patton who voiced the darkness in the darkness game did all the vocal/noise work for the creatures in i am legend.

Haven't got around to 30 Days yet; sounds like a renter. Having read I Am Legend, I knew I would be a tough critic. I must say while different from the book it was a great stand alone movie. The alternate ending made the movie that much better for me becuase it implied, in part, what Matheson was alluding to in the book.

30 days of night was great except for the screeching noise the vampires made. It was beyond annoying, especially at the movie volume I like. But the PQ was top notch.

I have only watched I am Legend on standard dvd...because I liked it so much I just purchased the Bluray version on ebay (sitting in my collection not watched just yet). I really liked the movie. Yeah, the CG enemy was a little over board, but I thought they did a good job and it was great near the end with the headbashing (for those who know what im talking about).

summary:

30 days of night = Rental (possible buy)

I am Legend = Buy

...but everyone is different.

I own both of the movies and I would rate them equally: very good, entertaining movies that could have been great. Overall

I Own Both And They Look Great, I Am Legend Looks A Lil Better. But You Can't Beat The Contrast Of The Blood On The Snow In 30 Days Of Night.

Exactly! Plus the wierd plot holes I mentioned... 30 Days of Night was pretty straight forward and a great popcorn flick, where as I Am Legend tried being a semi-serious flick that unfortunately had a very incomplete story, bad CG, and 2 very stupid endings. Will Smith's performance is the only thing that carried the film IMO.
