The Blues Brothers were a band before there was a film; they did not portray the characters specifically for the movie. They had a #1 album before the film ever came out.

They've recorded one album, performed a few gigs which inspired, and help them to prepared for the movie. It wasn't like they were performing together as a duo for 10-15 years professionally. John Belushi didn't even listened to blues music before he joined the band for a short period of time, and made the movie. He listened to rock! Dan Aykroyd is the one who've influenced John belushi to listen to blues.

Ask all the struggling musicians who don't even see anything close to all of that.

So why does the reissue of this film, on Blu-ray July 9th, not contain lossless audio?

With all the great music in this flick, you would think that Universal would have the
common sense, to reissue it with a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack.

What's the point in reissuing this movie, with the same crappy lossy audio it had before?

Cashgrab. The practice has only been going on since home video has been around.
In this case it's Universal's "Best of the Decade" line.

Anyone who wants the best version of Blues Brothers available. Pretty simple.
Judging by the collections on this site, over 2000 people. So perhaps yoiu should be careful who you call an idiot, as you don't want to come across as one yourself.

just browsing best-buy today and stumbled across the Blues Brothers release (best of he 80's). Glanced at back of cover and it stated something like 5.1 DTS-ma and dts-hd 2.0.(extended)???

Sorry, I should of snapped a picture...

I was gonna buy it, but wanted to check here first.

7.99 with a dvd trade in...

any takers?

nevermind... just read a review on best buy that someone bought it thinking that it was dts-ma, but its the the same old disc...

As disappointing as it is that this has no lossless, the PQ is great for a Universal title. So, improvement in picture & same audio as the DVD is still an upgrade.

Oh yeah, this is one of the best catalogue transfers I've ever seen from Universal. The quality of the additional scenes does drop quite noticeably, but given that they're from a rescued preview print (IIRC) that's to be expected.

There is dts-ma but only for the special features.

The audio on this is a major upgrade over the Dvd. Sure its not lossless but it is leagues better then the Dvd.

I know, but the new release clearly says on the cover that the film is 5.1 DTS-MA. Just trying to clarify if it is an error on the packaging or if the audio was added for this new release. Unless of course you have the new release?

Heres the back of the new insert. (sorry I cant seem to get the whole picture in here).

When you take off the insert, the back of the case is covered by an ad insert (picture of Jaws, E.T.) and a new stuck on UPC.

Once opened, you can see the original case and it looks like the original Blu release showing only dts surround.

I popped it in and it is still the same old standard dts...

As you can see, it clearly states it is DTS-MA for the main feature.

This was covered when the 100th Anniversary version came out. I'm glad Universal made the same mistake with their decade slips so that everyone could be disappointed and annoyed all over again.

If only Uni could celebrate the 100th Anniversary every year. At least we got some decent releases that year. Oh well.

Hello all

Was wondering if out of the three listed here on Blu-ray.com, which of them is the best one to get if I want to get the most scenes for the movie?

For me the importance runs in, (1) most scenes "in the movie", (2) quality of the surround sound, (3) "quality" quality of the sound.

In other words I care most about getting all the scenes I can but "in the movie", IE not as some extras in a separate section on the disk, but in the film & edited in the places they are supposed to be. (2) more care that I get sounds spread out and as they are supposed to be place and mixed well for transitions, (3) might tick of some here, but am buying this not for the songs, but to see the movie and story, so care somewhat of the "quality" the sounds are, but its not my top issue.

oh and btw, don't care one bit about Digital copies or Ultra-Violet, or any other extras aside from the movie.

Thanks for any help.
