Sting, Davey Boy Smith, Dustin Rhodes & The Shockmaster vs. Sid Vicious, Vader & Harlem Heat
WCW Fall Brawl September 19, 1993

Is this the match in which the set-up turned out to be probably the most infamous promo in wrestling history...The Shockmaster falling flat on his face?

I'm totally baffled as to how and when Ventura shows up on these re-releases of old matches on dvd/blu ray. The original Bret Hart dvd set had Ventura's commentary totally erased (and if memory serves it was from old episodes of Superstars and Saturday Nights Main Event), and I'm preaty sure he's erased from some of the pay per view matches on other releases (Jake the Snake, Dusty Rhodes dvds), but not the Wrestlemania dvds. But then sometimes he does turn up, like the Saturday Nights Main event dvds, the Hulk Hogan ones, etc.....I guess it's just a matter of if Vince wants to shell out the money to Ventura since he actually had a clause in his contract to get paid video royalties.

I guess it's possible that when the settlement was reached in the early 90's that it included already released material or PPV's on home video. Even at the height of the VHS market WWF's output was limited to PPVS, Special tour compilations and a few best ofs. WWF didn't see the dvd/blu format coming and couldn't imagine being able to release multi-disc sets covering 9-12 hours of material. So they probably didn't bother settling for any commentaries.

Also, due to Wrestlemania being Wrestlemania, I guess it's also possible that they didn't want to "Alter" history so to speak and forked out the cash.

August 1993 Clash of the champions! Ocean Center - Daytona Beach, Florida!
I was there! HAHAHAHA! Everyone in the area was like WTF?

3 years later I was in the 3rd row to witness Hogan go NWO, then everyone was seriously confused.

Those two ECW pay per views were HUGE.
The Smoky Mountain match is like the last 5 minutes and aftermath.

One of the ECW matches has no commentary so it's kind of hard to follow.

The other ECW match is just blood for the sake for blood. I will never watch any of these matches again.

I will say this much, I did watch all of these today. I liked the last ECW match, I do like the hardcore style. The 2nd match with the missing commentary baffled me. It was OK, but much like most of the big even ECW matches they are very slow starters and they just don't have the story telling or suspense aspect like the real war games matches on the previous disc. Wow...seriously those matches were great.

However i didn't one one second of the smokey mountain match...i couldn't do it.

I'm glad those matches are on there, but I would probably only watch the third one ever again. Watching a match without commentary is almost unbearable. I never noticed how much the commentary matters until today.

I agree...was surprised no commentary for the December to Dismember 95 match, seeing as Austin vs. Whipwreck vs. Sandman from the same event has been included in previous DVDs - ECW Deep Impact (Pioneer release) and Legacy of Stone Cold with Joey Styles on commentary. Strange this didn't have it.

As for commentary in wrestling, totally agree with that...i just can't watch it without it, even if its good or bad. I remember ROH DVDs couple years ago had an option to turn off commentary and all you hear is the crowd.

The cage match from December 95 was never released by ECW, or aired on TV, so there was probably no need for Joey Styles to record commentary over it at that time. Since ECW didn't air these shows live, the commentary more than likely wasn't done at the live show, but in post production as needed for TV or ECW Home Video releases.

Nice piece of history to have a never before released ECW Arena match in raw form with no commentary. I haven't watched the entire match yet though, just the first few minutes.

The second ECW match you are referring to has to hold the record for most DDTs in one match.

don't quote me on the time stamp, but it's like 8 hours long. That's a lot of sitting in front of the tv at one time. I had to watch it over the course of 3 days.

despite a few bad matches in thier history, I am glad wwe is releasing stuff like this as there were so many matches that were actually good and that people just never saw/forgot about. what they should do though is release a bluray of the real "most notorious" matches in wcw history - the fingerpoke of doom, Hogan/Jarrett, Booker T/Buff Bagwell from RAW,etc. now that would sell a ton.

I was never the biggest nwa or wcw fan until the monday night wars. My dad loved wcw and I was more wwf/e, I still enjoyed this set very much. The first 3 or 4 matches were very old and I have never seen them before. Those are the best ones! When I bought the set I thought I would hate them. Now I know why my dad liked wcw more than wwf/e.
