What soundtrack does the Directors Cut have? Is it the Jerry Goldsmith one?

Charles de Lauzirika has said it's the best looking version and he's the chap that would know.

Trying to decide what version to watch, haven't seen the film since I was a kid and as such don't remember a single thing about it. leaning toward the directors cut but figure that if I do I'll never watch the theatrical cut.

watched the Euro cut last night and the thing that struck me is that not only is the PQ better than the DC (it's too dark at times), but the sound is also superior - the bass also has much more presence

I just recently watched it to and I really enjoyed it, I am glad I added this to my collection, now I have all 3 versions, it sure would be cool to make up 1 long version and do 2 versions of it, 1 with Goldsmith score and 1 with Tangerine Dream.

Since I am in the US and grew up with the TD score that is the version I still to thins day prefer, but would love to have all the added scenes.

Default Extras

I've just bought the UK blu without enough research and am gutted to find no significant extras. However, thanks to the info from you kind folk, I'm happy that the transfer seems to be good and the Director's Cut is there.

I now need to get a version with Scott's commentary and the documentary. Given that I don't mind whether this is HD or not and money is a factor, which edition to people suggest to supplement my blu, please? Thanks.

I bought the US edition (which is region free) and it has the film-maker commentary on the Director's Cut and the following extras:

- Isolated Score by Tangerine Dream (theatrical cut)
- Creating the Myth: The Making of Legend
- Lost Scenes including Alternative Opening
- Bryan Ferry music video (with David Gilmour from Pink Floyd on guitar!)
- Photo Gallery
- and, apparently, more, but to what extent I can't remember.

Picture is amazing as well, on both cuts (but better on the theatrical, I found).

It does look like the Region-B Blu got the nicest treatment overall in terms of video quality (with the European Cut), though I'm more than happy with my Universal Region-A release, as I'm a fan of the "Tangerine Dream" score and the US theatrical cut in general. Video quality on the US disc has it's own strengths as well, and from what I gather, the color-timing might have differed between the US and European theatrical prints to begin with.

Sorry for the bump, but just picked this up in HMV for £4.99 they had a big stack of them in my local (Liverpool). Having already picked up the US disc, I was waiting for a bargain price for the Euro disc, like many others I expect. I'm glad to have all 3 versions of the film in HD now, so I can dump my bare bones UK DVD

It's interesting how different the tone of the cuts is, too.

I'm going to have to order this UK edition. I prefer the Goldsmith score so I think it would be cool to watch the theatrical UK cut with the Goldsmith score :-)

I can't stand that song at the end of the US theatrical cut it is just embarrassingly bad. (I understand if u grew up with it though) Is that song used at the end of the UK cut also?
