Add cue & picture. And Sony is not the best. That we can agree on. And for the person that says Ghostbusters is worse than the old edition obviously hasn't seen them side by side. There was a youtube video earlier in the thread showing them side by side & the difference is night day. The blown out contrast on the earlier release has been taken care of finally. Anything Sony releases in this line that was not released in an era where 4K DIs were commonplace or previously mastered in 4K (Lawrence of Arabia being a possible example) is going to get a fresh 4K scan from the original camera negative. |

Take a look at this comparison, and focus on the park area(?) to the left. It's all there in the original transfer, but only barely visible in the new one. That's called black crush. Certain things look better in the new transfer, and certain things worse. I prefer the old transfer better, even though it's not from a 4k master. If you share a different viewpoint, that's perfectly fine. I'm not going to tell you that you're wrong (or post YouTube clips, or oddly accusing people of trolling). And I've watched the video comparison of the two and the differences are pretty small, regardless. Maybe there should be more important things in the world to get so riled up about. Thanks to the 1 or 2 people with responses that didn't make me feel like I was talking with a room filled entirely of immature teenagers. ![]() Last edited by TheShape31; 07-02-2013 at 01:26 PM. |

1) If there is little/no difference, why bother releasing these in the first place? 2) If there is improvement, why didn't Sony get it right in the first place? 3) If the new transfer is worse, why is Sony releasing an inferior product? 4) Why are there dropped extras when the discs have between 10 to 20 GBs of free space? It's not as if the video and audio magically expand to fill that free space while the BD is playing in your BD player. 5) Why is Sony sowing seeds of confusion? Even people who use BD.com were confused, wondering if these were actual 4K discs that needed to be played in 4K players. Last edited by blu-ray_girl_fan; 07-02-2013 at 05:46 PM. |

2. I don't have a time machine. 3. Ask Sony. 4. See 3. 5. Sony is not at fault for the poor reading comprehension of the general public and their failure to grasp the simplest of information. If someone manages to confuse the term 'Mastered in 4K' with actual 4K content and the fact that it clearly states on the covers, that they can be played in ALL blu-ray players, I have zero sympathy for them and would cross the street to avoid these people. ![]() Last edited by Sky_Captain; 07-02-2013 at 06:28 PM.
