I agree that there is way to much petty negativity on the forum.

In other more positive news. All the releases I ordered directly from Shout/Scream have arrived intact, including the posters. I have had no problems so far with how they're mailed(fingers crossed).

So thanks Shout/Scream for the wonderful work you're doing, I really appreciate it.

My last title I've had on pre-order is The Fog, and at the moment, that appears to me my last title for now. I've run out of money to afford the many upcoming must have releases. I was able to afford my past pre-orders by selling plenty of my dvd library, and actually getting a decent amount for them, and also allotting a little bit of my tax return to a few titles. But I can't spend my entire return on movies. So I'll have to scrape up some cash somehow to afford the upcoming stuff, or just be patient and order one title at a time over how many months/years it'd take to acquire them and not be in the hole financially.

It's the Criterion "Go Ask Grandma" Factor--The curse that afflicts any studio that claims to have its own arbitrary handpicked selection of titles from any studio anywhere in the world, and finding themselves the wish-fulfillment go-to place for any fan asking for a Holy Grail.
Just go onto the Criterion thread, and hear the fans asking for "How about a Chris Nolan/David Fincher complete boxset? ", or "How about this obscure anime movie, or this title considered by most film sources to have been lost for twenty years?"

Ground rules, people. GROUND RULES. A company must set them, and fans must adhere to them. Call them a game-handicap before posting.

I have no idea what "negativity" or "division" or "DVD issues" just happened here. I only check in periodically, and it was all cut before I got here. I'm the late party guest who arrived after the argument, and wonders why no one's trying the hors d'ouevres.

And as such, I can only restate my naive grass-roots basic position:
1) Scream releases cool titles nobody else will, bless 'em for that,
2) They go the extra mile to dig up the cult history, because they know the Fans Will Understand,
3) They have a limited selection of racoon-rummaging through Universal and MGM's trash-bins (even if Fox and Warner's have locks on theirs), and there's gold to be found there,
and, of course,
4)....YOU WILL BOW BEFORE US HOWLING 2 FANS, CLIFF-EL!

(...Er, ahem. Sorry. )

I want to make perfectly clear that whatever the content is discussed in this thread never has and never will matter to me, be it a blu ray release or a DVD release. I, like a lot of you are enthusiastic fans and are eager to post something about any release of Scream Factory no matter the format. Someone will always mention the latest announcement whether its me or someone else. The problem that I was having had nothing to do with the content of this thread, but about saying "Thank you" - but it did turn into a forum content debate.
Arguing over thread content, slip covers and movie formats are completely frivolous to me. Not important at all.
Since we were all children at some point, Im sure some of our parents taught us the importance of saying 'please' and 'thank you'...
How this relates to movie releases on DVD or Blu Ray is at least for me, is being very appreciate of what is being released be it from Scream Factory, Olive Films, Synapse. I have learned to be very thankful for companies that are releasing sought after titles, and what bothers me are those negative backlash unappreciative comments that I wind up reading. Sure I see a lot of great thankful funny comments but then we get those repeated "where is Psycho IV' or "why cant this be on Blu Ray" comments that have been clearly explained by the studios many times over. Just recently in the Tremors Blu Ray thread, there was a user who said the same damn thing over and over again, page after page of "i wont buy it because of the DNR"
I dont need to be reading pages of the same nonsense. The reason I joined was to read about upcoming releases and see what the releases' extras will contain, and discuss with other members and not get into tissy fits over something that really means nothing in real life.
Collecting movies at least for me is a luxury and I consider myself fortunate to have a job and life where I can afford to buy movies and a wife who doesn't mind that I have 9 shelves full of movies. I am a fan just like the rest of you and I think every release is a step forward for my movie collection. Not only do I get a movie I love in the best format but I also in some cases get to see a film for the first time ever - and Im just glad for the opportunity to be able to watch something new to me (like those 4 film sets)
I look at it like this - its your birthday, you get one gift, do you say thank you or do say, is that all im getting ?
My writing this has no intention of causing drama and no I am not attacking anyone specifically, I just felt the need to explain myself and how I roll these days. If you dislike me or what I am writing you can always ignore me, Ill try not to cry about it
**Peace and happy collecting to all **
Apology accepted!

Great!
I didn't expect this one so soon. Awesome.
I enjoyed this much more than Dead Souls. I'll be picking them both up.

so, their new films are:

Dead Souls
Cockneys Vs Zombies
Chilling Visions
Dead Shadows
(soft announced)

I am particularly looking forward to the last one, amazing Foreign film, a lot like Night of the Comet.

My bet is that they will include them both in a Cronenberg set,
with Scanners / The Brood / Rabid.

All three of which have now been unofficially announced.
Scanners and The Brood on iTunes.
Rabid in a Janus Films article.

I think it's a safe bet we'll be seeing all three in October!

Scanners and The Brood on iTunes.
Rabid in a Janus Films article.

I think it's a safe bet we'll be seeing all three in October!
I assume Criterion will announce them on the 15th of this month.

I was looking at that Elvira list of movies...I wish Shout would release Monstroid - I know it wouldnt be HD but on a 4 pack would be cool, maybe clean up the transfer a little bit....
I hope some of those movies that were No's become yeses one day
(Is yeses a word?)

Actually I want Monstroid without the Elvira commentary sort of like a non MST3K version of the movie ..I have a DVD of the movie but I would like it to be released with some restoration - Id love it in a 4 movie marathon with other giant monster movies around the same era - it depends on whats out there ..I was thinking Sea Serpent , The Magic Serpent, Empire of the Ants or Tentacles ..
Im very certain that Criterions Halloween slate are the Cronenberg titles....but I can see Mulholland Drive as well ..But I hope they do more horror titles as well...
What am I saying, there is already enough coming out in October without the Criterion movies....my wallet needs CPR be right back

I would like it, or any other Elvira titles, on a blu-ray version, with the Elvira intro and exit optional in SD. She doesn't interrupt the movie itself.

I know that's a fantasy though...
