I saw this over the weekend and was really disappointed. The original was possibly my favorite Pixar movie outside of the Incredibles and I feel they have really fallen off since. I barely laughed at all during this one, and thought it just felt like it was missing something with Mike as the lead character. Boo was definitely missed. I'll be passing on buying this.

i won't be. This was my new favorite! It was also years before Boo was born. I never saw it in 3D tho, was it good?

Btw, my initial impression when i first saw the thread title is that the OP didn't like this movie.

Pointless. (from a general 3D fan)

I enjoy Monsters Inc, but I generally think its overrated. I didn't think MU was too far behind in quality. It was funny and engaging. The animation was phenomenal, especially in the human world by the lake.

I understand why Boo was not included obviously, but it was a horrible, horrible mistake. In almost every animated film there is a "side kick" that always takes over the film.

Think about the Shrek series - Puss In Boots became a massive character and then got a spin off

Despicable Me - the minions are the selling point for the 2nd film and now have their own spin off.

and these are just a few of the countless examples

No Boo really hurt the film

I think I was watching him more than the movie. Seeing the big smile on his face, and hearing him laugh is about as priceless as it gets!(Thank you Walt!)
Can't wait to add this to the colletion!
Same thing over here. The wife and I took our three-year-old to the theater for the first time to watch this movie. He was mesmerized by the whole experience. At the end of the competition when all the monsters cheered, I looked over at my son and watched him raise his hands in the air and shout out "Yay!".

I'm not ashamed to admit: happy buckets of tears, man.

Loved this movie! I wish the pre-order was up already. Surprised it isn't yet.

I was thinking the same thing. Too early for an artwork.

Boo serves her function within the movie and she's a cute enough character. It wouldn't have made sense for her to be in MU though.

That kind of restraint is actually a huge plus for that prequel TBH, nobody was in there who didn't belong and even characters we knew (like Randall) weren't in it more than they needed to be.

If it had been a sequel they could have had boo, but I think the writers realized the original ended on a good note and didn't want to fudge it up

They better do a damn sequel 15 years from now where Boo is a mother and her kid has the monsters making her laugh.

I feel the complete opposite. I think Boo is a large part of the reason I don't enjoy Monsters, Inc., her absence in Monsters University was very welcome and I loved it!

You can pre-order it in store at walmart, and it comes with a free ticket to the movie.
