I am very aware of where they got which film.
I frequent this thread and own every release they've put out so far.

You did read the rest of my post before quoting it, right?

Although I doubt they got a ton from the smaller companies, as they only have so much money and the little companies usually don't have more than a couple, at most, films that they would be interested in.

They're all on DVD, except 7, which may have been through a bootlegger, I believe.

The 'reboot' is Howling: Reborn and it's an okay, newer sequel.

(Note: the other Howling's are not the best quality but there's a 3 pack with 3 / 5/ 6 that is about 8 bucks online)
Thanks for the note about the 3-pack! That's awesome. And I know the sequels are laughably horrible by reputation, I'm just curious about them kinda in a "troll 2" way. Plus I personally have to see what a weregaroo looks like :P. Looks like I'll have to possibly seek out a VHS for part 7, if it's worth the effort!

It's been alluded to, but I don't think it's actually been posted.

From Facebook:

Quote:
It's now "official" that we will be at Comic-Con San Diego in two weeks!!

Legendary genre icon Adrienne Barbeau and Horror's Hallowed Ground's spunky Sean Clark will be joining Cliff MacMillan (Scream Factory DVD producer) and Jeff Nelson... (Scream Factory marketing director) as they take you behind the scenes, introduce exclusive footage, and announce future releases. Their panel will be held on July 19th, 6:30- 7:30pm. Room 24ABC.

Before that, Adrienne and Len Wein (creator, Swamp Thing) will be doing a signing at the Shout Factory booth (#4248) from 4:30 - 5:30pm on July 19th too. (And, yes, we will be selling THE FOG and SWAMP THING there earlier than their 7/30 and 8/6 official street dates.)

We know you're pumped about what titles we're going to announce there and we've seen all your guesses. Just to manage expectations, we felt it was important to let you know that, although we have quite a robust slate planned for 2014, there's a chance that we might not be able to divulge it all at the Con as we had originally hoped as deals may not be closed by the then. That being said, we still have some good ones for you to reveal and we're working hard to secure to the others. We're not done terrifying you guys yet!

We genuinely look forward to seeing you if you will be attending and answer questions where we can.

Emphasis on "deals."

I'm right there with ya, underlined the ones I'm wishing for, although in regards to "Sleepaway Camp" sequels? I really only care for part one and two, but to each his own. I would add "The Serpent and The Rainbow" to the list, I love it and think it's underrated, you may not feel the same.

Why does it take so long to close deals anyway ? What is with the waiting game for deals ?

Interesting news and thanks for posting. I'd be happy with a few announcements but I wasn't expecting them to announce all 48 titles at Comic Con. Scream did state they were planning on releasing 4 titles a month next year, right? Even if they announced a majority of their slate that would be quite an announcement.

I alluded to it in my larger post, I like Serpent, but I think Cliff commented on it saying there were better films? or something like that.

They probably couldn't get Sleepaway Camp part one, because I think Universal is prepping a remake. But that's just a rumor as to why they may have gotten the rights, which in itself was never confirmed. II and III are with the producers, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't charge a ton for it, and Shout could very easily do
a Double Feature to satisfy all fans.

I love 3 the best, tbh. Its so fun and ridiculous.

While I am a very satisfied man with everything "Scream" has done, and any studio regardless, I always can't stand when some kind of double/triple feature or box set is released and rights for the original are unattainable so they go ahead and just put out the sequels minus the almost always landmark original. I mean I'm sure we're all on the same page when it comes to taking what we can get, I just find it annoying. I would almost prefer a longer waiting to get the rights to complete a set rather than do a sequels release, but that's just me. Of everyone here it seems you and I seem to have a lot more in common in terms of horror film and things in relation to it.

May I ask where you heard the Sleepaway Camp remake info? It would be intriguing, especially if Universal let Jason Blum produce, since they distributed The Purge this summer with great success. I'm interested in where you heard this b/c I haven't heard any Sleepaway Camp news on either Sleepaway Camp website since Return to Sleepaway Camp and Sleepaway Camp: Survivor were released. I'd love your info to be true though!

A response to this post mentioned only "5 or so" titles being announced. Not the complete slate.

No sorry you misread that. We are not announcing a full slate. More like 5 or so depending on what can close before the 19th.

I'm aware that this thread had been discussing 5-6 titles but I was keying in on the following from Scream Factory as posted by Zbinks:

I may have misunderstood what was meant but I took "all" to mean their entire 2014 slate.

EDIT: ^ Thanks for the update Zbinks. I stand corrected.

Is anyone else kind of surprised that The Chucky Collection has the 1st movie? Most franchises that have had the first movie or first couple of movies released are getting box sets (Tremors, Amityville, Friday the 13th). I swear that Return of the Living Dead is next. From Lionsgate. Or WB. Maybe Darkman.

In a few threads it's been really just a rumor.

I mean why else would a large studio like Universal buy the rights to a single horror movie? Especially in the age of the remake?

My bet would be that, if Universal does in fact have it, for that purpose, but would they license it to Scream Factory?, that's the real question...

Well, the big 3 have a pretty good history of working together in the Blu-Ray age. That being Warner Bros, Universal, MGM, Fox, and Paramount.

But I guess anything's possible.

Sure they would let Scream license it out for publicity for the remake, would be my best guess. If Universal's sole purpose was a remake of a schlocky 80's horror film then they would be primarily focused on the remake, not releasing the original on blu. Take for example Scream's release of The Town that Dreaded Sundown. This title came out in May when the 2014 remake/sequel was shooting or about to start shooting in Shreveport and Texarkana this May and June. So if Scream could get the rights to a movie that had an active remake in production, with a popular producer attached like Ryan Murphy, why couldn't they get Sleepaway Camp rights with no active remake being produced? It all comes down to studio deals and politics I guess. Does Scream want the title? Does Universal want it for a future release? I guess we will be reading the news,in the months ahead, hoping for some Sleepaway movement by some studio!
