Not heard of this until yesterday. Movie looks like a lot of fun and the FX look amazing. Can't wait to see what the 3D is like.

Considering that the visual effects are by Rythm and Hues either during or before their bankruptcy troubles, the visual effects looke quite nice and I freaking love the creature animations! Very creepy looking and they have the movement of the creatures down perfectly

The movie just also looks like a lot of fun. I love me some sword and sorcery and the fact that it's in 3d is making me fangasm more lol !

I love the look of the creature design also. With this and RIPD it looks like a good year for Jeff Bridges in FX heavy 3D movies!

Wikipedia lists it as Jan 2014 release. I hope the 3D is well done.

Yeah, can't wait to check out RIPD 3D. Bridges also in the 3D Tron Legacy.

She is the main villain from the look of the trailer in 2D, that played before Pacific Rim.

It'll be interesting to see how they market this movie, as it has a dragon in it. In general, movies with Dragons don't always fare well at the box office, as in Dragon Slayer, Krull, Dungeons & Dragons, etc. The Hobbit being the exception.

Even so, The Seventh Son looks very promising. Can't wait to check it out. The monsters look menacing. Jeff Bridges looks like he does some sword fighting also.

In the theatrical trailer, it said at the end "3D", but was presented in 2D. They're probably converting it at this time for the January 2014 release date, which is usually when the Underworld movies are released.

Update:

JANUARY 2014:

The Seventh Son 3D (action fantasy 3D) starring Jeff Bridges as the guide and trainer it appears. Saw the new second 2D preview of 7th Son on the Pacific Rim 2D blu Ray disc (not on the 3D disc) and this is the 2nd trailer, which looks really cool with lots more action, dragons, monsters and special effects on par with Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters. Can't wait for this one either. Great start to 2014, as Hansel and Gretel was for 2013 (an incredible year for 3D movies).

This looks promising. Still have to see the 3D preview though.

Cool, thanks for the news Eriaur. I have more faith in Prime Focus thanks to their much improved 3D efforts like World War Z, MIB 3 and some others. I hope they hold the same standard for these also.

What the heck? They've pulled The Seventh Son from it's January 2014 release date and pushed it back to February 2015!! A year and one month later, that's absolutely crazy. I can't imagine why.

It's sad because they already spent a lot of money for the 3D previews that I saw on TV before it was bought out by Universal Studios and given a temporary placeholder for February 2015, though it's looking possible that date will stick. Disappointing delay for The Seventh Son 3D.

A new preview was shown in theaters today. Still looks promising.

February 6, 2015 it releases. Of all days, The Seventh Son 3D releases in theaters the same day the Matrix twins' Jupiter Rising 3D is in theaters. I'll have to flip a coin or see one first, then the next the following week if nothing else is playing.

They had to switch properties/distributors, so that was likely the reason for the delay.

2nd new preview Trailer:

Yeah, I saw that new trailers, which pretty much threw away the design of the original marketing...

But, when you sit on a film for two years (Or is it three?), and the original studio that was going to distribute it for Legendary (Warner) essentially says, "Hey, on your way out, take this..." it's not good.

I still get the sense that it is polishing a turd.

I remember you suggested Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters would be bad after it was delayed a year or more, but for fans of the action fantasy genre, it turned out well and made enough money to warrant a sequel. The 3D was good too. Medium with strong pop outs.
There can be countless movies in theaters that fall into the same definition of "bad" according to the countless critics out there.
It looks promising anyway, but will post an opinion after I check it out, being a fan of movies in this Fantasy Genre.

Yeah actually Hansel & Gretel surprised me. But it's an exception to the rule. Paramount also delayed GI Joe: Retaliation for a year for "re-shoot" and it was a worse film than the original. (The director's edit was better though...)

As for actually seeing the sequel to Hansel & Gretel, it's still in the scripting stage. I know Wirkola is writing the script, but no cast in is place. I'd be surprised if it doesn't end up being a direct to video production.

I honestly can't see Renner or Atherton returning to for this project five years later... Although it looks like Renner's Bourne has fallen through for now, so he might need the cash. (Unless Greengrass works him into the plot of the new Damon film.)

I think I read they're still doing a Legacy sequel but also going ahead with another sequel with Damon back which has taken priority. If that happens, I can see them doing another sequel where they finally merge the two.

Lin's already been approached about finishing up the Fast and Furious series (Shooting 2 or 3 films back to back), I think Renner's Legacy sequel is probably dead in the water.
