Any interest in a Brazilian / Portuguese subforum?

I have noticed, though, that Brazilians sometimes seem to be sensitive to the differences. For example, we were watching a news program on Globo International (Brazilian channel) last night, and during part of the story, the Brazilian reporter went to Portugal. During interviews with Portuguese people, I was a bit amused to see Globo providing subtitled translations at the bottom of the screen. I asked my wife if Brazilians can't understand people from Portugal, and she said something to the effect of "Only stupid people can't understand them" I didn't see the Brazilian reporter using a translator, so I suppose he must have been bilingual, being able to speak both Portuguese and Portuguese.

But back to the main point, I have a feeling that at this point, there would probably not be enough activity in the Portuguese subforum to justify two separate forums for Brazilian and Portuguese versions of Blu-Rays. And I would think that there would be enough cross-interest that it would not even be necessary. In other words, I think Brazilians would be interested in movies from Portugal, and vice-versa.

And I would also look at the Spanish sub-forum, which does not have any subdivisions even though Spanish is spoken in numerous large and small countries in a variety of dialects.

Portuguese learned more about Brazil than Bazilian learn about Portugal and since the 70's when the first " Telenovela " aired in Portugal .

Ha ha, good point. I've heard that Brazil's soap operas are one of their biggest exports. And I must say, from what I've seen they put the American soap operas to shame. So I take it that the Portuguese people are able to watch Brazilian soaps without the aid of dubs or subtitles?

Nope not subs or dubs , at this point there are actors from both countries working on the other side of the atlantic and for soccer players Portugal is the entry for europe . Yeah you are right the production level from the brazilian soaps are very high and with amazing scenarios .

Además el merdado de Blu ray portugués es muy pequeño, practicamente no hay ediciones originales de Blu ray, como sí las hay en Brasil.

2) No, no... you didn't read my others comments. It's true, our market is small, but we do have some exclusives... but not that many. Most of times its like our previous edition: Django. 3 different stores had 3 different t-shirts, as a Portugal exclusive. Everybody was asking for it, had to pick up more than 20. It was crazy.

So, i think it could be "Portuguese and Brazilian" or "Portugal and Brazil" - same subforum. The flags will make the difference, and we will know which country it is from. Two differents forums makes no sense.

Just my opinion.

Brazil and Portugal are represented by 2 different BD region codes. Makes this a little more complicated, don't you think?

No, I don't.

It will be the same, either if it says Portugal and Brazil or if it only says Portuguese. The region code will always be different.

Or it can be created only a subforum to Brazil... but to put aside Portugal it's ridiculous.

Same as the Spanish forum, right?

Obviously it would be nice if there were no region differences, but this sub-forum will be a great place to share information about specific titles, regions, and the type of Portuguese on a disc.

I think there's been a little bit of mis-communication, but I believe that in summary, everybody thinks there should only be ONE forum, but that the title of the forum should somehow reflect that it is a place for discussion of both Brazilian AND Portuguese Blu-Ray interests.

This to me seems to make the most sense. "Brazilian" is not a language, just like "Québécois" is not a language.

"Portuguese" would also be my first choice. Keep it simple. I think that anybody can understand that this should encompass the markets of Brazil and Portugal and anywhere else Portuguese is spoken (New Jersey, for example )
