I really am starting to hate WBs. They can't take the time to give us a proper high bitrate blu specific encode. They just take the old HD-DUD title and port it over just like they have always done. Slap on some extras and bam..their done.

I thought WB was supposed to start making Blu specific encodes???

Atleast their sister company New Line Cinema can give us Blu specific encodes in VC-1. Although I'm not sure how much longer that will last since WB has take hold of them recently.

What I've see of Batman Begins is up there with Order of the Phoenix and some of their better titles. I think anyone expecting a Blu-ray specific encode of this was expecting a bit much.

I would imagine New Line, and Warner's, future release will be higher bitrate, since they no longer have the constraints of HD DVD holding them back. I would anticipate Warner to go the way of New Line, instead of vice versa.

No, there have been a few 1.1 releases. RE Extinction, Sunshine, and War are all 1.1 w/ PIP.

VC-1 hey, looks like we're getting the same encode from the HD DVD. Lazy, Warner, very lazy and disappointing.

I was expecting a HD-DVD port.

It should still look/sound great though.

Looks like it pretty much is a port. The TrueHD is sourced from 16-bit 48 kHz...d'oh!

Looking forward to it, though. How could i not?

The HD-DVD version is only $15.00 on clearance. To compare the prices is unfair.

The Blu-ray version is the exact same price as the HD DVD version. The only reason you might see the HD DVD cheaper is due to clearance sales.

Just because it's VC-1 doesn't necessarily mean it's the HD DVD encode.

I know, but it seems like it will be. Hopefully we'll get confirmation soon. There wasn't really anything wrong with the HD DVD release, but it would be nice to see Warner actually doing some Blu-ray specific encodes on the titles we never got in the first place.

I don't care if its VC-1. I just care if it has a higher bitrate than the HD-DUD couterpart. I mean Shoot'em Up from New Line C. in VC-1 looked razor sharp with a 23MBps+ bitrate. I just want WB to give us a higher bitrate. The difference's between VC-1 and AVC at higher bitrates is trivial. Lower bitrates are another story though. AVC just seems to handle lower bitrates better.

I'd like to know what the first WB release will be with a Blu-specific encode.???

P.S. I still will buy Batman Begins and V. for Vendetta despite the HD-DUD porting.
