Is this the one with James Spader? That was literally the first DVD I ever bought...

Yeah I'd like to see this on Blu-Ray too. It'd be one of those things I don't tell anyone about. One of those movies I'd leave at the back of the drawer, the drawer that's hardest to reach. So that even if someone comes to steal my Blu-Rays they either won't find it or won't be bothered reaching for it ... so then I'll know that even a complete criminal stranger doesn't know I like this film.

Heck, I don't even know what I like about it. It's got pretty much everything NOT to like about it. But it doesn't stop me wanting to watch it a couple of times a year when I chuck a sickie (Australian for "play hookey"). I almost invariably watch Val Kilmer's "Red Planet" the same day.* Guilty pleasure.

I think I like the big blue titular supernova in the background. Or the funny glowing orb thing. Or James Spader ... cos he's, you know ... James Spader. And Lou Diamond Phillips as well, cos he was in Young Guns. And then Stargate Universe. And now Longmire. And they're all good stuff.

I dunno. I just like the film. And I want to watch it on Blu-Ray and watch that big badass supernova in 1080p glory.

* I also like Val Kilmer. And Carrie Ann Moss is kinda hot in this (and everything else). And it's worth watching for just one solitary line: "This is it. That moment they told you about in school where Math would save your life".

Although I don't watch it the same day, I love Red Planet and Mission to Mars.

I do hope they release Supernova on Bluray.
