I'm in too. I didn't care for the second Cars but once Cars 1 got out of the race scenes and hit the highway I got into the whole South West look and location for Radiator Springs. They hit the nail on the head with the look of the small town and the mountains and ranges outside of town. This should look good in 3D so I hope Pixar doesn't hold back on the depth and a few pop-outs if they can find it in their hearts.

I'll have to watch it again. I think Tomater (the tow truck) is a love or hate character. Especially in Cars 2 where he was the main character.

Bring on Incredibles 3d and A Bugs Life 3d!!!!
Good way to look at it. They may have set their new talent to work on it, or secondary crew. The animation, look was great, though the story has room for improvement compared to their other movies. Cars 2 feels more like a spin off movie.

Yes, hopefully they've taken note of the 3D forums online, and cranked up the 3D compared to their prior, more mild 3D efforts.

I thought that Cars was just okay, and Cars 2 was passable. However, after visiting Cars Land at Disney California Adventure, I am thoroughly brainwashed. I feel like I've been in that world and now have a strong, positive connection to the movies. This will be a day 1 purchase for me.

There's really no "post conversion" when it comes to computer animated movies. Since everything is built in a computer anyway, the opportunity is always there to convert to 3D a lot easier than it is to convert 2D or live action. Given that everything is already placed on a 3D plane, it's MUCH less effort to put it through the actual 3D conversion process.

I stand corrected. I was under the impression that these CG conversions went back to the original assets and then re-rendered them as 3D. It seems that while Dreamworks did provide some assets to that post conversion company, it was still significantly done using the final render.

I suppose that in a computer animated movie, it's POSSIBLE to re-render everything, but not necessarily a given. At least that option is available for those movies, where it's not capable at all for live action movies.

Thanks for the education, hazelwu.
