I enjoy Darkman, but I also own the Universal disc and rarely watch it. Even though I'm sure the extras will be great, I just don't see myself upgrading.

I'm really in a bit of disbelief and kind of scratching my head.. I honestly think we got TOO spoiled this year, too many INCREDIBLE titles to come. "Day of the Dead", "The Fog", "Prince of Darkness", "Psycho II & III", "Vincent Price Collection", "The Amityville Horror Trilogy" and "Night of the Comet."

Holy shit.

How could any announcement trump that line-up? Well it could've been possible, but I'm totally baffled as to why they picked these titles..

"Darkman" - Hell yeah, I'll bite, the Universal disc has NOTHING on it. Can't wait to see what kind of extras they come up with here.
"Nightbreed" - Still in the works, but that's a total hell yeah as well.
"Assault on Precinct 13" - WHY? I just got the blu-ray because, well it seemed good enough for me, I don't see anything wrong with the current disc and it would take a lot to make me double dip this one.
"Cat People" - Haven't seen it so I won't rule it out yet.
"Eve of Destruction" - Huh? Really?
"Saturn 3" - Same reaction as above. Except this one has 3 big name actors in it. Maybe I need to re-evaluate this one.

They truly should've tried for "Army of Darkness", a proper version, both cuts, commentaries, behind the scenes, you know the score. How great would it have been to say we got not one, but two Raimi cult classics, not to mention both Universal titles and the current "Army" disc is totally devoid of any special features unlike any of the multiple Anchor Bay releases.

Come on. It was made during the Raimi Renaissance (1987-1997)

While Army of Darkness would have been fantastic, the current disc does have two features: Alternate Ending and Designing the Deadites.

They really should have fought hard to get "Army of Darkness" to release along side "Darkman." "Army of Darkness" needs a proper release with all the cuts and bonus features. Not to mention they were both filmed one after another.

Thought they might announce US versions of The Car and Motel Hell though.

the only 'horror" in SATURN 3 is seeing Kirk Douglas' backside.... but it's a fun, cheesy flick that I'll enjoy seeing again. Too bad Farrah Fawcett isn't still around to talk about it....

Assault on Precinct 13 - Maybe for me
Eve of Destruction - hell no
Saturn 3 - probably not. Honestly never heard of this before. Cast is impressive though
Darkman - if the extras are good then hell yes
Nightbreed - F*!@ to the yes . Has the possibility to be one of the best genre Blu-rays the format has given us
Cat People - Pretty darn happy with my DVD. Extras are really good on that but if they add more good extras then maybe. David Bowie interview would seal the deal for me. Love that Putting out Fire song!

Scream and Shout are doing so much better work than Criterion these days. Just wish there prices were just a little cheaper and I would buy so much more.
They really should have numbered their releases like Criterion and Oscilloscope do

That's hardly anything compared to what Anchor Bay was putting on the discs. Universal didn't care at all and it shows.

The former seems like. Just like hoe Pee-Wee's Playhouse used to belong to Image til Shout! snatch the rights up.

I hope they'll include the 5.1, DTS, and Original Mono mixes plus all the extras from the Restored CE.

Isn't Assault a Shout title and not a Scream one? Akoris, doesn't Saturn 3 have a killer robot that goes around killing people? I've only seen a few bits, but it sounds like horror to me. Unfortunately, Kirk Douglas' contract stated that he would appear shirtless in every film. Seriously.

I didn't own any of the Anchor Bay discs. I wanted Boomstick Edition, but I draw the line at $20 new for a DVD, and people were asking for $75+ on Amazon. I ended up picking the Universal disc up at Walmart for $5.

yeah, Saturn 3 is about a killer robot but it's not very threatening until towards the end of the picture...it's been like 30 years since I've seen it but if memory serves there's only 3 cast members in this film (Douglas, Fawcett, and Keitel) so there's not much opportunity to go around killing people...

I hope they'll include the 5.1, DTS, and Original Mono mixes plus all the extras from the Restored CE.
Great. Now they must lose the New World catalog.
