Honestly I thought Scoop and Melinda & Melinda were better than Midnight in Paris and Vicky Cristina Barcelona, though I enjoyed those as well. I enjoy most of the movies he's put out in recent years to be honest. Even To Rome With Love was enjoyable.

Now they're saying it with Blue Jasmine!
I get annoyed too. I guess it's easy for them to be so huperbolic because normally 1 rotten film in between usually means five+ years since their last good one. Since Woody is much more prolific, they should measure their words more carefully.

Wow this cast looks amazing! Blanchett, Baldwin, and Sarsgaard are all great. It's good to see Louis CK tackling serious roles as well. Woody Allen is underrated IMO. I'll be seeing this ASAP.

Okay okay. Fair enough. He's made some pretty filthy films. I think Midnight in Paris is his best film. I haven't seen Manhattan though.

A huge +1. I like his films, but I think he gets way too much credit for the quality of work he puts out.

I think he has been and continues to be lauded the appropriate amount.

I imagine mine will get it on the 23rd. I definitely want to see it. It's been doing really, really well in limited release. Definitely didn't expect it to expand as well as it has been.

Was able to see this today and it's such an outstanding film. I can't imagine any actress topping Cate Blanchett's performance this year, but this does seem like a great year for female roles, especially compared to last years mediocre lineup. Personally I think it's one of the best performances in years.

4.5/5 at least from me. Dice was very good but sadly I don't think he had enough to do to warrant an oscar nom. It would probably be Canavale if any of the men got a nomination for this. Sally Hawkins was definitely oscar caliber. The only downside to seeing this with an audience is that I think there was way too much inappropriate laughter. Jasmine is a really depressing character with some serious mental problems and my audience was laughing throughout even at times I know for sure wasn't meant for laughs, you all will see. There is some funny bits at the beginning and sprinkled throughout since this is Woody Allen, but it's a very dramatic character study.

Guarantee oscar nominations for Best Actress and Best Original Screenplay. Sally Hawkins strong possibility for Supporting with a possible nom for Canavale.

Yeah, it's in all the chain theaters here on the 23rd. Glad to see this is getting a reasonable rollout.

Saw this a couple of days ago. I liked it alot. I'll give it 4/5. Not that many people in the theatre though, even though the reviews here in Norways has been good.

I have a feeling a couple of the people there don't go the cinema very often. An old lady not far from me was talking to herself during the 'Wolf of Wall Street' preview. "How will I manage to follow this movie for 1 1/2 hours" and an old guy on the other side of me said "Ooooh, it was just a commercial or something!" when the preview was over.

And the old lady suddenly left when it was just 10 minutes left of the movie.

I approach each new Woody Allen film w/ caution these days. I grew up on his movies, and the names he would drop in films and interviews were my first window into the world of international film. But the last film of his I enjoyed was 1999's Sweet and Lowdown, and the last one I thought was a truly great film was Husband and Wives ~20 years ago. I would rate Whatever Works and To Rome With Love as two of the worst films I've ever seen from a major director working with stars.

Don't get me wrong, I have every hope that he'll deliver another film that I love. I'll go see this one, and hope to come back in this thread with a thumbs up. But I've been let down too many times, starting with 2000's Small Time Crooks, by critics and brand-loyalist fans willing to proclaim sub-par films works of genius... or at least "Woody Allen's best since [some mediocre post-2000 Woody Allen film]."

Ha. Whenever I take my mom to a movie, or heck, even when we watch a rented one, during the previews she'll be like, "Is this the movie?" LOL.

Yeah. If it's out by me this early it is getting a good push. Makes sense. Probably will be next week before I see it.
