Terrific news! I've been petitioning for a better Blu-Ray for this film ever since the diabolical Film Chest release, I'm thankful that Kino listened. However, I'm still a bit cautious. Kino are obviously exploiting its public domain status but MGM - as far as I know - have the best elements and a great master so it will be interesting to see how this transfer fares. Can't possibly be worse than the current release though.

You got them to release it? That's some power there.

Nah, I wouldn't kid myself But I did suggest it to them (and other companies) on several occasions.

The Stranger and The Hitch-hiker are great news. Let's hope that they will tackle Detour (1945) and D.O.A. before long

Im just hoping Kino will do a superior job to the MGM DVD which is still the best PQ of all the releases. Ill get this for sure and will replace the PD Blu Ray version for sure...
I dont know what to do with KCC though, go back to the DVD or keep the Blu Ray...
The last time Hitchhiker was released by Kino the DVD was so awful I got the Roan group version...I hope this will be better

Go back to the DVD. It looks much better than the blu-ray. See this comparison: link. The blu-ray is taken from inferior source materials and then scrubbed to the point that everyone looks like wax figures.

Awesome news, we really need more Welles on Blu so this is very welcome indeed.

Now the review on this site said the blu-ray was better than the DVD, so I sold my MGM DVD and grabbed the blu-ray. Oh this blu-ray game

"I haven't seen as many PD DVDs of this title as I have of The Stranger, but this release has a couple of things going for it. It is virtually spot and blemish free, which none of the DVD releases I've seen (including the touted MGM) have, sometime in abundance." - Reviewer

Really good film. It may not be as awesome as 'Lady from Shanghai', but I will still pick this up.

The Woman in the Window would look awfully nice next to Scarlet Street too.

That would be awesome as well. But, isn't that one with MGM?

I want to say public domain but I'm not positive.
