$195. Kinda pricey, but I might get it anyway.

Netflix to show Breaking Bad season 5 finale exclusively in the UK and Ireland, starts 12 August

Netflix, the TV show and movie streaming service that has been taking on regular broadcasters in originating and showing new content, has announced that it will be the exclusive home for the second half of the fifth season of Breaking Bad.

The conclusion to one of the most talked about TV shows in the last decade is in the can and soon to be broadcast in the States. The final eight episodes will start on 11 August on AMC in a traditional broadcast slot, but the UK and Ireland rights have been snapped up by Netflix, so it will be available on demand in the two countries from 12 August.

Unlike many of Netflix's shows, each episode will be added to the service every Monday on a weekly basis, in order to avoid spoiling the plot lines and ending for viewers worldwide.

"Netflix has been instrumental in making Breaking Bad the success that it is - particularly in the UK and Ireland, where it has built an audience and become a huge phenomenon," said the show's creator Vince Gilligan.

"I am delighted that fans there will be able to enjoy the end of Breaking Bad on Netflix so soon after it airs in the US."

All series of Breaking Bad - up to the end of the first half of season five - are available on Netflix. You could just about cram them all in by 12 August if you go some.

Saw the announcement this morning from Netflix. Great news, now I don't have to even attempt to watch them using potentially questionable means. Will also reduce the likelihood of it being spoiled.

Anyone know when the Mezco figures are supposed to ship? I thought they were supposed to ship in July but mine still says "Processing".

Still 6 more days of July - don't worried, I ordered back in March and mine says the same thing. It might be pushed a week or two into August. 99% we will have them in time for the premiere Aug 11

The Breaking Bad TCA panel was today and it was announced:

We’ll be able to watch the first time Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul read the final episode. Stu Richardson made a two-hour documentary on the making of Breaking Bad that will be included on the show’s fancy Blu-ray box set. Part of it will include footage of Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul reading the series finale aloud together for the first time. Paul told us earlier that there were definitely tears.

Looks like they will release a big set I'll buy the regular set and the big box set

just starting a round of re-watching all episode before the last 8 air next month.

have to say, I forgot how quick Walt fell. I mean, within a couple of episodes, Heisenburg is clearly breaking through.

Also liking the little coincidental things i.e. what a fugue state ACTUALLY is (amnesiac personality dissociation), and how many things you see play out on screen, crop up later in a much different light (Combo's murder for eg - not long passed the episode where he died, but remember how we're sent back to that event later on).
Upon second veiwing I'm beginning to appreciate it as a really well put together, and good show. First time round I was too invested in the main storylines to notice a lot of things. There were even a few shots set up in a particular way that hint at the storyline (cant for the life of me recall what though, I've watched about 7 episodes today/last night)

AMC has released the first of the final eight episodes to critics.

I'm not going to spoil anything about the return of "Breaking Bad," except this: It's as good as it's ever been. As good as any TV show has ever been.

NY Daily News only gave it 4/5 stars

I wouldn't get to bogged down, Breaking Bad always builds towards greatness, it's never brilliant straight off the bat.

This is the end though. It's technically the 2nd half of the season

No you should definitely leave it, we all hate the show that's why we're all here talking about our complete lack of anticipation for the final season and why many top critics putit on their top 10 lists of the year out of complete and utter spite.

Yeah, it's a crappy show. Especially the writing.

Season 3 has one of the BEST epsidoes (Fly), but I agree it does kinda drag. Had I not watched them all back to back last year, then I would likely have given up during 3 and 4 (though I'm glad I didnt)
Stick with it though, it gets better through 4 and from what I remember, 5.1 was excellent!

Still a few genuine WTF moments for sure.
