What are banna plugs? Are they needed?

You plug your speaker wire into the plugs, and plug the plugs into the receiver.

Do you mean Banana Plugs? They just make it way easier to connect and disconnect your speakers from your receiver.
And I wouldn't recommend using the plugs from monoprice. They are really cheap and flimsy, but you get what you pay for.

Actually, just trying to find a listing of some so he could see what they look like more than anything.

Those are the ones I have as well. Some are a bit tight; but overall they are good quality .. and very affordable.

Sorry, I really like the cable and other things from monoprice a lot. But not everything they sell is good

If you look at the construction of your banana plugs, you can see that they will be subject to fatigue over time because the metal is flimsy, where the one that I posted will not because the construction is completely different.

They work GREAT, don't worry about a thing. You will have a much better connection if done right and you will be very HAPPY with the quality.

I assume what you really mean by banana fatigue is Rotting Bananas. Watch this video and make sure you do not use them on your receiver.

using monoprice solder banna plugs and they are working fine-just use as a screw type though...has a illustration on the monoprice website. Boy they seem to be of high quality and a 1/3 of the price of other retail places I shopped around at. Let me know if I should dis-connect everything and throw out the banna plugs, I would not want to "fry" my $8500 dollar investment.
