There's a thread for discussing 'The Dark Knight Rises' elsewhere.

This release will be mine. It'll sit nicely next to my Theatrical & Extended Editions LOTR sets.

Now that I hear how much longer the extended editions of the Lord of the Rings films were, 13 minutes for this one does sound rather paltry. Though benefit of the doubt, as a few have said already, is that this is the first part of an adaptation that very well could have been done in one film... though I've also heard that the book, while short, is also incredibly dense. So... yuh.

I'll be picking this up for sure! I loved the theatrical version, and I think this extended one sounds like a very impressive purchase considering the special feature extravaganza... the original Blu-ray doesn't have extra features that substantial, does it?

The only one firing shots, is you. FYI.
Don't go crazy, Tonto. I have posted it in like... three threads, maybe. If you look at my post history, you'll see the vast majority of my posts are quite substantial. Give me a break, dawg.

Yay! Yeah, the second half is a-mazing.

It doesn't need to be any longer imo, you have to remember that this is only the first part of the story and the book is nowhere near as big as LOTR.

Can we just skip the months of August, September and October?

I doubt that'll happen, did the EE of the LOTR trilogy get theatrical re-releases back in the day?

I'm happy the extended version is coming out in 3D. Was hoping for more than 13 minutes of new material though.

13 minutes is probably enough assuming that they add to the story. I am more looking forward to the appendices. I have watched the extras for the LOTR set several times going back to DVD and I usually never watch extras to begin with.

The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers got theatrical runs in the weeks leading up to The Return of the King's theatrical release.

I think they did all 3 EE's before the Hobbit.
