Well if it makes you feel any better, they're working on getting a lot of discs out as we speak. They(paramount) realize they have a lot of pissed off people to please. They're gonna announce and announce big time within the coming weeks.

only by Bill Hunt of The Digital Bits. But I wouldn't say confirmed... More like he's an insider and knows what the hell he's talking about.

Because they hate you.

Or... because they need more time given a variety of reasons.

Because this is sours grapes period Paramount is still pissed over the format war. They have no excuse not to release it. Paramount already has the manufacturing capability in place before they jump ship to HDDVD. I Think Paramount and universal will not release anything until Bluray gets a 50% saturation rate into the userbase. Im honesty starting to believe they are being paid off to delay releasing anything in Bluray. I refuse to buy another Paramount and universal release until they publish it in Bluray. I have not seen Transformers or shrek yet and will not watch them until they release them in Bluray.

That's not the reason. One they had to wait until Toshiba made good on the money that they still owed Paramount and Universal. Secondly they have to prepare everything for Blu, including all the extras that had already been prepared for the HD-DVD release. This takes time, and originally was why the rumor was the Blu-Ray was gonna come out barebones, as there's not time to prepare and re-encode for Blu-Ray. Lastly they need to book time in one of the already crowded Blu-Ray replication facilities. Many of which were already running at peak capacity. Which is why the BDA is working to get more replication lines up and running.

I just got word from a contact at Paramount that they are prepared to make "some" Blu-ray announcements next week. If I hear anything else, I will let you guys know.

If this is the case, I expect these announcements to be all titles that were supposed to be released before going HD-DVD. Transformers, Blades Of Glory, Top Gun, and Face/Off all come to mind.

I would love to hear an announcement for Zodiac as well. And while they're at it, a date for There Will Be Blood and Cloverfield.

Cloverfield won't be announced until after it is released on DVD.

Hey hey, beatboy. How the hell are ya? I hope your right on this cause I am growing impatient with Paramount. Universal not so much cause I know they have a lot of catching up to do, and I am sure they will deliver when they are ready.

I would expect that the first announcement will be "Shooter, Mission Impossible, etc. are back in stores" and I would expect the second announcement to be "and here are the titles that we teased you with last year, ie Transformers, Blades of Glory, Face Off, etc." Those should both come way before any brand new, previously unnannounced titles.

The problem is, day and date releases are selling alot better than catalogue releases these days, so I'm sure they would want to put a bunch of different stuff at the same time. Get the people going into the store looking for There Will Be Blood or Ironman in the stores, so they see Transformers and Top Gun sitting on the new release shelf right next to it.

I am a little surprised to see that there have been no announcements yet. It has been several weeks now since their insiders have been telling us they will make an announcement "soon". I expect that to be around this week and yet there is still nothing.
I just hope that they are not merely porting these titles over the BD from HD DVD and are actually re-sampling the films at a higher quality for BD.
We will just have to sit and wait for them to figure things out. If they had only stayed Blu/joined Blu earlier, then none of this would have happened.
