Velvet Goldmine (though I wouldn't categorize it as gay -- several characters may be bi -- which in my opinion, makes them just as hetero as gay)
The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert Bishonen (It would never happen, but Stephen Fung and Daniel Wu are lovely together.) Queer as Folk (I ADORE Mr. Harold and it's a wonderful show) Burnt Money (Mr. Noriega in BD.) ![]() |

![]() Brokeback Mountain seemed like it got the recognition it did because they were 2 gay men instead of a male and a female. Not that I have any problems with gays (obviously, I mean I am posting in a thread talking about what movies we want that deal with the subject). The only thing I liked about that movie were the way the flashback scenes were done. But I think that was about it... And the acting was very very good. But that's about it... |

That's right, I forgot that Jake's acting wasn't that great in the first act. Heath seemed very mysterious like he had some deep dark secret... Basically he nailed the part. Jake's character didn't seem as... fleshed out? Like it needed a little more oomph... yes it's a word

Maybe you misunderstood. I said I AM a big fan of the Family Stone. I'm NOT a big fan of Brokeback.

Brokeback Mountain is quite overrated. I think people are giving it a little more credit than it rightly deserves because it's a very daring movie. It most definitely has some problems with it that you are not alone on. While Heath Ledger's performance was great, he mumbles a little too much, and when you actually can hear him, his accent sounds a little too forced and unrealistic; not that I'm putting him down in any way: I respect him heaps and he gave a great performance. While I heard it was a sad movie, and while I believed it would be sad, I was let down by something that really bugged me towards the end; Ennis didn't seem to care all that greatly about Jack's death, especially when he has shown to care greatly about Jack concerning about some quite minor things. It is overrated, but that doesn't in any way mean it's a bad film, and I do truly love it; it's one of my favourites ever and will buy it the second it's released on Blu.

First, it is awesome this thread is being allowed here. Previous attempts at anything even about Brokeback Mountain last year brought in all the flames and got closed quickly. Kudos for creating a quality thread that can be moderated.
I just read through 11 pages, and was pleased to see Queer as Folk mentioned. I would also like all seasons of Six Feet Under. I've only seen it mentioned once or twice so far, but Love! Valor! Compassion! is by far my favorite gay movie. I would buy that and the much mentioned Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert and To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar in a heartbeat. I think I've seen most of what has been posted so far in the thread and then some. I don't even have very many gay movies left on Netflix that I haven't seen. Not mentioned yet (I think) is Soldier's Girl, I would like to have that as well. Also, Far From Heaven would be nice. Thanks again for this thread! |
