So er, why are you guys posting in this thread? If you're happy with that crappy mpeg2 DVD Blu-ray, why bother coming into the Predator 3D thread?

That 'crappy MPEG-2 BD' possesses the best PQ for Predator available, period.

Its still a better more faithful presentation upconverted then the UHE Blu-Ray but it does get exposed for its lack of contrast, brightness, sharpness and detail on my 55" LED, the 2008 Blu-Ray is quite a large upgrade despite it having problems of its own.

That old MPEG-2 Blu-Ray isn't crappy. Like HD Goofnut said, it's the best presentation of the film on home video, period. It looks miles better than the horrid Ultimate Hunter Edition. It also looks much better than the DVD release as well.

The film can look better, but for an un-restored, old HD master, it holds up really well imo. Also despite the fact that the encoding on the disc is ancient and out of date, it doesn't look too shabby.

I've read on HomeTheaterForum that both the 2D and 3D discs are getting a new 4K transfer. I hope this is true unless it's just some guy speculating.

It's just as HDvision adequately put, why are u bragheads posting about that crappy mpeg2 blu-ray over here? This thread isn't for you.

The right people are here to post/read about this upcoming blu-ray 3D/transfer release.
...Not to read bogus posts about the old blu-ray. Go back to the old thread and post your rants there... since you said it is the BEST presentation, period... there's literally no reason for you to even post here.

We're hoping this new presentation lives up to the quality presentation on that Blu-Ray, as the Ultimate Hunter Edition of Predator is easily one of the worst home video transfers ever created by a major motion picture studio.

Dude there's no need to insult people and act like a douchebag. Is it a crime to talk about that transfer? We were just comparing the other Blu-Ray transfers and we're all hoping that this new release will top them. Also the MPEG-2 Blu-Ray's transfer isn't crappy. It actually hold up really considering the fact that it was sourced from an older HD master. It decent reviews when it came out back in 2008.

To put it bluntly, it's one of the worst Blu-Ray transfers out there on the market at the moment. It's DNR'ed to death, artificially brightened, contrast boosted & the colour timing is all screwed up (too vibrant and over saturated).

I kept it because the special features were great, and I knew the BR version would drop them all like they usually do.

It's basically a perfect example of everything that can be done poorly for a so-called remaster: contrast/brightness/gamma/color/sharpness boosting and heavy DNR. It looks like a video game vs a film.
