Key Features:
  • Brave New Worlds – Destiny will instantly draw players into a universe of heroes and legends, with worlds and storytelling crafted by Bungie, the creators of Halo – one of the most beloved and critically acclaimed entertainment franchises of all time.
  • Your Legend – In Destiny you create your own legend as you and your friends venture out into the solar system to reclaim the treasures and secrets lost after the collapse of our Golden Age. Over the course of your adventures you become more powerful, able to wield rare and exotic weapons, gear, and powers.
  • A Connected Universe – Destiny is more than a disc in a drive, it is a persistent online universe filled with other players. As the story grows and expands over time, so do the destinations you can access, the activities you experience, and the rewards you can earn.
  • A Social Experience – Destiny’s many destinations will feature areas called Public Spaces where players journeying solo or with friends will seamlessly cross paths with other players and Fireteams, some on similar missions, others engaging in completely different activities.
  • – Public Events – Contained within some of Destiny’s public spaces are realtime dynamic events that players and Fireteams in the area can choose to engage in. These Public Events are short skirmishes where multiple players work together to defeat their common enemies and collect awesome loot.
  • Classes: Destiny features three unique classes to choose from, each with their own custom looks and abilities. Players will be able to crush their enemies as a Titan, vanquish foes as a crafty Hunter, or unleash incredible arcane energies on any adversary as a Warlock.
  • – Titan – The first Titans built the Wall, and gave their lives to defend it. Now, you stand in the same high place, steadfast and sure, protecting all who shelter in your shadow. You hail from a long line of heroes, forged from strength and sacrifice. Our enemies may be deadly and merciless, but so are you.
  • – Hunter – Hunters once prowled the wilderness and wastelands, taking big risks for even bigger rewards. You’re no outlaw—at least, not anymore—but making your own luck has always meant bending the rules. Your unique brand of daring and ingenuity is needed now more than ever.
  • – Warlock – Warlocks have long studied the Traveler, mastering some of its arcane energies. Its true purpose still remains a great mystery, but discovering truth has always driven you into the unknown. Now, our enemies are the only thing that stands between you and the lost wonders of our Golden Age.
  • Adventure Awaits – Personalize and upgrade every aspect of how you look and fight with an expansive combination of armor, weapons, and visual customizations. Take it all with you into every mode, including Destiny’s story, competitive multiplayer, and public combat destinations. Return to The City, Destiny’s third person social space to rearm and repair before going out on your next adventure.

So, this is a bungie style MMO with an awesome 1st person pov - which is cool

I am really pumped for this one, and have preordered it already, but my questions:

*How will they handle a level 25 guy with a buddy that's a level 7?
*Monthly fee? Sounds like it may happen - no way there won't be for a persistent universe, or am I off base?

*when's the beta, and when can i play it?

This games multiplayer will be locked behind PS+ so you'll need that to play online, obviously! Seeing as most games (not F2P) will require this I don't think we'll see many subscription based MMO's!

Looking forward it, I'm also intrigued to how it will play and the longevity of this sort of game!

Online games arent a thing I am interested in, but I am curious to see if Destiny can change my opinion of that.

I actually think this could end up being bigger than Titanfall.

While I am excited, its more due to it being a Bungie game; funny thing is, I liked Halo games but never loved them. This one, however, has me excited - partly for the sheer scope. Once they reveal more story and the like, I think the 'hype train' will begin next year in earnest.
This is more of a little tease than anything now

I can see it; its interesting as both are online only, but could not be more different from the other

There is little doubt that it will be far bigger frankly.

Titanfall is the B2P equivalent to Planetside 2 (smaller scale though, but with the addition of "Mechs"), whereas Destiny is conceived from the ground up to be a massive new franchise.

Titanfall will be popular for a few weeks or months, while Destiny will probably be there for years (unless it fails badly, of course, but what I have seen so far is pretty encouraging).

Maybe it's because i really didn't like Halo one bit (after the 1st one), don't get me wrong, i'll give it a go when it's on sale

Destiny box art revealed for PS3 and PS4
Quote:
Posted on 30 September by DeeJ – Community Manager, Bungie.net

Hey, PlayStation nation. This is going to be an exciting week! First off, check out our box art. In Destiny, you’ll play as one of those three classes of Guardian – Titan, Hunter, and Warlock – all able to wield incredible power, and sworn to protect the last safe city on Earth.
Tomorrow, check back right here to watch our latest gameplay trailer, set in a destination a lot of fans have been asking to see for the first time. We’ll also have some exciting announcements if you’re looking to suit up and explore our new frontier. Stay tuned!

Maybe they'll do a SE with the superior placeholder art.

This one goes even better with PS4-blue.

Loving the box art. Like it better than the placeholder one personally. This game will be a day 1 purchase for sure.

I didn't realise the character in the middle was facing away until I looked down to the gun-arm and feet.

Looks a lot like master chief from the back with the helmet and all.
