It's not really a nitpick when it's an important plot point, is it? And not just that, but the death of Uncle Ben was mishandled, Peter was an unlikable jerk (no fault of Garfield), the romance was very underdeveloped, the CGI on the Lizard looked distracting, it was edited horribly, and it's constant sequel baiting instead of making one coherent film really soured me. This is coming from someone who isn't really a fan of Spider-Man, but that doesn't mean I can't recognize bad filmmaking when I see it.

I preferred Toby Maguire in the first trilogy TBH. The emo, moody performance of Garfield (as Parker) seemed at odds with the wisecracking way he acted as Spiderman. Though I did enjoy the film though.

The term "emo" gets thrown around way too much. Wouldn't anyone be sad if they lost their parents and then later their uncle right in their arms? And you're right about the tones being at odds, but that's the point. The suit and his powers are forms of empowerment. They awaken a side of him that needed to be dug out.

Surly and moody then, not sure how to describe him

He was a little too, emotional at times. He was great as Spiderman in the suit, though, better than Tobey. Also his chemistry with Emma Stone, was pretty much as good as it can get in these type of movies. Better than RDJ and Paltrow in Iron Man, even. On the other end, as likable as Tobey was as Peter Parker, his scenes with Kirsten Dunst, in all 3 films, just did not work, at all. Hurt the films.

I'm officially under the impression that this whole 4K thing is a crock of crap. Releasing them with no features, and just a different transfer, when 99% of America won't even be able to utilize the amazing transfer? What's the point? Money... obviously money. Whatever.
Sorry... It's like Monster Audio Cables and those hundred-dollar HDMI cables at Best Buy. You're paying a premium for something that is, at best, only marginally better than the same object you can buy for 10 times less. In the case of 4K Blu-rays, it's a little different, considering they're not more expensive than a standard one (I think?), but still, it's trying to eke out more money from the consumer, for what has amounted to, in my humble opinion, a ridiculously marginal improvement, and that's for the sharpest eyes. Ugh. As for The Amazing Spider-Man, I welcomed it with open arms. I love Spider-Man, and I couldn't care less who is Peter Parker or not. I wasn't attached to Tobey Maguire all that much anyways ![]() Overall I felt the film was much more believable and this Peter Parker was much more relatable. Only thing I would change is that the scripting and acting felt like it should have been a lot darker, but the film still played it a little too family-friendly. I don't know how to explain it, but I was thinking throughout the film that I wish it were just a tad darker and grittier, since that is what it felt like they wanted to go for with the script and lighting. Other than that, I don't have much to complain about. A standout scene for me was [Show spoiler] Really worried about the sequel. I don't like the way they're going with all these villains. I've seen a few screenshots, and I am getting such a bad feeling... plus the idea that they have already lined up release dates for Amazing Spider-Man 3 and 4? ![]() [Show spoiler] ? Ew. That's all I can say is ew. Really worried.

Gold wiring may've made a difference with analog signals, but HDMI cables send information as 0s and 1s. The data is either there or not there, so Monster HDMI Cables are really a scam.
