Right and it's stupid. Paying for reg season then i pay for all the playoff games. I don't want 2 practices for another $520.

Of course no one wants to pay for it, but it's a package deal. No different than my cable company charging me a price for my TV package. I don't want 80% of the channels they provide but in the end I'm paying for a lot of channels I never watch. Like I said, I can see why most people don't like it, but there are obviously plenty of people that are willing to pay the surcharge. In the end it comes down to supply and demand.

Former Eagles and Jets player Hugh Douglas, who co-hosted Numbers Never Lie, has been fired by ESPN. He allegedly threatened to beat up co-host Michael Smith and called him an Uncle Tom at the National Association of Black Journalists Convention a week and a half ago.

Hah. So he was fired for an incident at a career fair.

Quote:
The former NFL player and Numbers Never Lie panelist was let go by ESPN today after disturbing details emerged last week from Deadspin and The Big Lead regarding an alleged confrontation between Douglas and ESPN Numbers Never Lie host Michael Smith at the National Association of Black Journalists Convention and Career Fair in Orlando. ESPN issued a statement last Tuesday saying, “We are aware there was a disagreement between Hugh Douglas and Michael Smith. We are looking into the situation.”

Good riddance. He wasn't very good on ESPN, he had very little camera presence.

Honestly, I don't even want to publish this story. It's kind of a shame that everything Donovan McNabb -- no longer an NFL player and now only an NFL analyst -- says warrants a headline. However, it wasn't that long ago McNabb was working with Mike Shanahan as Redskins quarterback.

And so somehow he stays connected to Robert Griffin III. Thusly it kind of matters right now because RG3 was asked about McNabb's previous comments and said McNabb's "not an idiot" ... obviously McNabb had to respond. And he thinks RG3 is getting "brainwashed" in Washington.

"I'm just trying to help him, but clearly the young generation think they have all the answers," McNabb said. "And he's going through a little turmoil right now of trying to get out on the field. And it's unfortunate, but that's where we're at right now as far as these young quarterbacks who think they have all the answers.

"I honestly think that over there in Washington he's getting brainwashed."

Oh boy. OK there are a few things going on here that we need to parse through. (Although if you're in the "shut it, McNabb!" camp, please proceed directly to the comment section below.)

One, surely McNabb can't really believe that angry, stick-waving, in-my-day, younger-generation comment. He's 36. That's like, maybe a little old, but only old enough to try and be cool and hip and stuff. He can't be crotchety at this point.

Two, he really can't believe that guys like RG3, Andrew Luck, Russell Wilson and Colin Kaepernick have "all the answers." (I'm just assuming these are the young quarterbacks he's referencing.) That's a whole pile of humble, talented young quarterbacks who would be more than happy to meet with veterans of the game and discuss how to improve.

And finally, McNabb can't say this with a straight face, if only because he has a major axe to grind with the Redskins coaching staff. His time in Washington couldn't have ended more poorly: he was replaced on the field at quarterback by Rex Grossman. Please spend a few seconds processing that.

Good? Alrighty. Look, McNabb is in the media now and he's got a job to do. He analyzes football for a living, he was a quarterback and he worked in Washington. Griffin is going to be a topic of conversation.

But he's got to make it less personal, or, at the very least, try to make it less transparently personal.
For years and years, I thought McNabb was a nice guy. However, since his retirement he has been saying some really dumb things that make him sound like a tool.

Same... It's like he went Dwight Howard, he seemed like the perfect dude for the time in Philly and then its like WTF? I thought he deserved a pass in Washington because this team and franchise had sucked for so long but then seeing him in Minn. and not being able to ever get it back either through effort or because he lost it. I think its safe to say the Washington incident wasn't all on this Organization. He needs to get the hell over what happened here and realize his play was good enough to warrant at the very least consideration for the HOF, and just give normal commentary and not be so vindictive.

I am a little worried about how RG has been carrying himself lately... Klannahan's deserve a ton of blame for what happened last year along with play calling, but him ALWAYS trying to be out there as admirable as it is equally destructive to this teams future.

He was also the guy on Numbers Never Lie who was always like "Numbers never lie unless they disagree with my preconceived notions".

Seemed like they had him in completely the wrong role.

Jim Irasy tweeted about the preseason ticket pricing issue we discussed the other day.

@JimIrsay
U pay a lump sum n reality for 10 Season Tics ..your Bronco tics r 400% under-prized,ur pre-season tics over-priced,it balances out in end
10:44 AM - 14 Aug 2013

@JimIrsay
That's the reason Season tic prices shouldn't even have a tic price on individual tics..The 10 home game tics have varying value
10:49 AM - 14 Aug 2013

JimIrsay
N the end it's fair/U R NOT paying full price for pre-Season games..no more you' re not paying full,but under-prized 4 Texan/ Broncos,etc
10:58 AM - 14 Aug 2013

If all NFL owners think that way then they should print their perceived value on each ticket. Then we us season ticket holders try to sell our crappy preseason tickets we can charge less for them and not be losing any money.

Big blow to the Raiders as left tackle Jared Veldheer, without question their best offensive lineman, tore his triceps. He'll be put on injured reserve with the designation that he could return, which means he'll miss at least the first 8 weeks of the season. The Raiders took Menelik Watson in the second round of the draft but he has been injured virtually all of camp, so for now the starting job will go to Alex Barron, who hasn't played in a game since 2010 and who was one of the most-penalized players in the NFL during tenures with the Rams and Cowboys.

He is a jackarse but he's also correct, goto any of the ticket selling sites and you'll see it. I know some season ticket holders sell some of their tickets to offset the cost and often sell the best games because they are worth the most.

Tom Brady limped off field today Hurt left knee...went back in for 4 snaps and went to trainers...but BBs left hand man did not go see brady so doesn't sound serious. Same knee he had surgery on
