Scheduled PLAYSTATION®Network Maintenance

The PLAYSTATION®Network will be taken offline for a scheduled maintenance to our network during the following times:

Start: April 14, 2008, beginning at 8:00 a.m., Pacific Time
End: April 14, 2008, ending at 11:00 p.m., Pacific Time

During this time, the new PLAYSTATION®Store upgrade will be taking place. As a result access to the PLAYSTATION Network will be restricted, including:

No access to the PLAYSTATION®Store

For information regarding the changes to the PLAYSTATION Store, please visit the PlayStation.Blog.

It is not anticipated that this will affect other PLAYSTATION Network services

Once the new PLAYSTATION Store upgrade is complete, a new system software version will be available for download. This new system software must be installed before you may access the PLAYSTATION Network.

A new system software, hmm...I thought they were just going to change the store without any downloadable software.

So they're going to work on it tomorrow, this is exciting. Can't wait to see the new store on my TV.

Sounds like the firmware update should be available sometime early Tuesday morning in the US. Can't wait for my DTS-MA and non-web based PS Store. Woot!

I believe Pacific Time is, Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) -8 hours. So add 8 hours to Pacific time to come to...

Start time: 14 April 2008, Monday @ 1600h GMT
End time: 15 April 2008, Tuesday @ 0700h GMT

Edit: Damn... I just noticed the start time was 8:00 "AM" and not 8:00 "PM". 15 hour server maintainance... reminds me of one of the major update/maintainance schedules for Final Fantasy XI...

If you play online at all you will have to update to get on your psn id. Doesnt sound optional. I doubt they would do all this just to have noone update to use the store. Obviously it's for the better.
