In all seriousness, the home video rights are a mystery. Only one Vista Organization title has made the leap to Blu-Ray, Jeff Lieberman's Remote Control, and that was released by Lieberman himself. Artisan (now Lionsgate) apparently had the rights as recently as August 2003, but I have a feeling those rights expired causing the DVD to go out of print almost immediately after it was released.

And a lot of those Lionsgate-Artisan titles reverted back to other rightsholders.
Like the Prom Night movies and the Stephen King films.

So it could literally be anywhere by now.

Fright Night 2 is one that's grown on me over the years. Sad that the HD broadcast may be the best version we'll ever get.

Echo Bridge has 1 and 2 now, but even they only have dvd rights on those.
Synapse has blu-ray (and dvd too?) rights to the original, and they said on facebook that they might be able to get the rest, so they're not with Lionsgate.

The situation with those are pretty different from any other franchises rights that come to mind.

Yeah.

From what I gather, this may be what happened:

They were all with the producer, who sold the catalog to Alliance, but they had to wait for the temporary contracts with MGM (2), and Artisan (3/4) to end before they could get them. But Alliance was bought by eOne, so when the rights lapsed for 2/3/4, eOne got them. Echo Bridge, who works with them frequently, became the distributor for 1 after Anchor Bay, back when EB was called Platinum Disc Corp. So they later became EB and released it and Curtains, which they got from Alliance. When MGM lost 2 it went to Alliance, and they picked it up from them. Same thing happened with 3/4 but Echo Bridge is yet to release them, even though they recently popped up on their online catalog.

And Synapse made a deal with eOne, seemingly, to get the 1st film and Curtains, but the condition that the Echo Bridge ones stay in print was part of the deal, apparently. And since Echo Bridge never owned it they had no say in either's blu-ray rights.

So, whew, its complex, but that seems to be what happened with the rights to the SimCom movies, Prom Night 1/2/3/4, and Curtains.

It is a nicely produced bootleg, made on a BD-R. Outrageous pricing for something the seller probably ripped off a torrent.

This kind of horror related because I think it's a reference from a horror movie but can't remember which one. Okay there's a scene in the Simpsons episode "The PTA Disbands" where marge looks outside the window and Bart is flying a kite at night and he turns and says "hello, mother dear". Could someone tell me the reference? It you spoiler tag it for people who haven't seen the movie it's referenced from that is cool. Please help me out.

Don't know, but the scene kinda creeped me out.

Shout/Scream should acquire the cult classic Psycho Cop 2 a.k.a. Psycho Cop Returns from 1992. It's a terrific cheesy slasher flick that's extremely entertaining and amusing, and has never had an uncensored release in the U.S. at all! The R version is chopped up beyond belief, and the unrated version is extremely hard to locate. However the unrated version does exist, and it would be nice to see this film get the uncut treatment on blu-ray and dvd!

So Shout, make it happen!

I hope they do a new tranfer of Night of the Comet, it looked terrible on MGM-HD and Netflix. My big issue being the black levels on both showings. It looked like everything in the dark had glowing outlines.
