Scream Factory announced this on their Facebook page. It's probably a Scream Factory release.

Exactly, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that it's a Scream title...

Yes! Love this movie.

Can't wait to see what art Scream commissions for the cover/slipcover, with the original poster on the reverse.

I wonder if this release will include the English version which was filmed at the same time as the German one.

It's hard to imagine anyone topping the David Palladini piece used for the original artwork. It may be a bit presumptive though, as this has not yet been announced as a Collector's Edition title.

I'm a pretty big fan of Bram Stoker's original Dracula novel, not necessarily a huge Dracula movie fan. But this is probably my favorite Dracula film. Looking forward to the Blu-ray.

Oh man, the rumors are true!

One of the best, and probably the creepiest vampire film out there.

Sorry, genius, but I don't think the fact that it was mentioned on the Scream Factory FB page is definitive proof of anything! Cliff & co. also work for the main line, and the news was equally posted on the Shout! Factory FB page.

The official press release does not mention Scream Factory, either.

Quote:
Shout! Factory, the multi-platform media company dedicated to preserving and releasing previously released films, television shows and more, announced an exclusive multi-picture alliance with Werner Herzog Film GMBH to distribute a coveted library of classic films in North America today, August 20.

Founders Richard Foos, Bob Emmer and Garson Foos were joined by the legendary filmmaker himself, Werner Herzog, in announcing the multi-year alliance. The company has acquired extensive rights to 16 of Herzog’s films and documentaries, including digital distribution, home video and broadcast for cross-platform releases.

The feature films include “Fitzcarraldo”, “Aguirre: The Wrath of God”, “Nosferatu the Vampyre”, “The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser”, “Woyzeck”, “Heart of Glass”, “Cobra Verde”, “Stroszek”, “Fata Morgana”, “Little Dieter Needs to Fly”, “Lessons of Darkness”, “Ballad of the Little Soldier”, “Land of Silence and Darkness”, as well as several other acclaimed titles.

“Werner Herzog is a filmmaking icon and a celebrated master storyteller. He holds an incredibly rich legacy in cinematic history worldwide. Many of his memorable classics have been long-out-of print in the North American home entertainment marketplace. We are honored with this opportunity to bring these iconic films to movie collectors and legions of fans on digital entertainment platforms and at retail,” stated Shout! Factory’s founders in a joint statement.

“I am very proud to start this new collaboration with Shout! Factory and, given the outstanding reputation of Richard Foos, Bob Emmer and Garson Foos, I am confident that our joint efforts to bring my films to the North American public again in brand new HD quality will be hugely satisfying and rewarding,” said Werner Herzog.

Shout! Factory is planning an aggressive rollout of the classics through home entertainment releases and a variety of digital distribution platforms. As excitement builds for their release, the company and Werner Herzog Film will announce more news later this year.
It would make most sense to release the Herzog films under the same label. Nosferatu is the only one among them that has any direct horror appeal, and even so it has equally if not more appeal to the art house crowd. This is why I think they will release it in the main line.

But reality is, neither one of us knows, and only time will tell who is right. I'll save your "genius" comment, though.

No offence, but I do know.
And anyone with a fully developed brain would agree.

Its a Scream Factory title.

There's not some secret code to decypher, Nosferatu is a horror film.
Scream Factory is a horror sub-label... Its not that hard to wrap your mind around.

Shout is Scream, Scream is Shout.
They're not handing it away to another company or something. They're just releasing it under the "Scream" banner, not abandoning it, casting it out, away from the rest of the WH films.
Its the same people treating it the same way as the rest. Its just a horror movie so it goes with the rest of their horror movies...

Then you don't mind giving me your source? And please don't refer to the Scream FB, as the same thing was posted on the Shout FB.

As for your "no offence" thing, yeah, you didn't handle that very well, did you? That was really uncalled for.

Its a fact.

Shout often posts product info/announcements on the Scream page, and vice-versa. Its incredibly common. They're run by the same team of marketers, like Jeff, who does Scream's page.

Scream Factory's post specifically refers to one film and one film only, and it says that its coming "from us". They even refer to it in the comments section and on another poster's question regard more teasers and announcements. The shout page simply linked to an article about their company signing a deal to distribute films, under whichever label they like, HOURS after Scream Factory's ANNOUNCEMENT.

Shout didn't announce it, they didn't announce ANY WH titles, actually...
But Scream did.

Honestly, did you even read the post?

I believe it Noseratu along with all the other Herzog titles would more than likely be under a banner proclaiming all the Herzog titles such as a Werner Herzog Collection. I am sure Shout mentions it thru Scream factory also because of the type of film it is. Until it actually gets released or confirmed by Shout as being under any banner it is just a guessing game. I doubt Herzog would want one of his films released out of style of all the other titles under the licensing agreement. It only makes sense to be part of a Herzog Film Collection banner.

And btw, Shout never "also announced" Nosferatu.
That is completely incorrect.

It was ONLY announced on Scream Factory's page.

This is one of my all time favorite movies, so assuming it includes the original and superior German language version with English subtitles, this is a day one buy for me.

However, I'm not all that familiar will Scream/Shout...
Will this release be region free? How are their other releases in terms of region locking?

Typically no, they are Region A, contractually.

But BFI is reportedly planning a release in the UK.

Sell like 5 or 6 BD's you probably wont watch again or any time soon and buy a region free player. You won't find any sympathy from people in these forums. It's been 7 years into the format. We all owned DVD players, most of us will end up buying a region free BD player. Just a matter of time. No use whinging. Either wait for another studio or go region free and get what you want when you want.
