Since it's animated, I'd prefer it if they would just stick with the Voice Actors they had doing Mystery Inc/DTV movies.

I'll direct it. Hire me, Warner. I've got vision for such a project.

We open up on an animated dog tail... wagging... still wagging...

How many Scooby Doo fans would look forward to a more adult based Scooby Movie? I know I would love to see one with an R rating or at least a 14AA rating. Probably not the money maker a kids movie makes but I think you could get a good movie.

Include some hardcore bestiality and I'm in!

Honestly though, Scooby Doo hasn't been good since the 80s. This project has no interest to me.

lol I didn't mean 'adult' like that. Just saying something not catered to children.

Scooby Doo is a children's show though. Your idea makes little to no sense. You basically want a more gruesome and dark like Scooby Doo adventure, and yet you expect that to fit in with Scooby and Shaggy? Who are two of the most ridiculous and goofy characters there are.

I wasn't talking about making a Hostel type movie with these characters. I was thinking more along the lines of Frightners or Sleepy Hollow. Something where the humour could be geared more for adults. At the same time it could actually be a little spooky.

Also, remember that Scooby is a stoners favorite and always has been. I'm thinking, playing to that crowd. Instead of hinting at Shaggy being a stoner just go ahead and show him as a stoner. Same with Velma being a lesbian or whatever.

Yes, please let this happen. One of the best Scooby Doo animated movies in my opinion. Although, Cyber Chase was pretty decent too.

...and I thought the live action Scooby Doo movies were good too. The second one was "meh," but the first one was absolutely entertaining.

My thoughts exactly. Zombie Island > Cyber Chase > The rest. Admittedly there's TONS of animated movies. Only seen a few.

I believe they sort of tried that with the first live action movie. It was originally intended for a PG-13 movie, before it was cut down for a PG rating, and it shows in some scenes. Stuff like having Shaggy be a pothead and the alleged lesbianism of Velma, essentially what people thought they were when they were older and learnt of such things. There are still visual gags in the final film, like smoke coming out from the van after the opening scene (it was just Shaggy and Scooby cooking food) and when Fred was in Daphne's body, he...she...whatever, wanted to see himself naked. Honestly, I don't think we really need a more adult Scooby Doo movie. Just hide a few jokes for those who grew up with the series.

A new Scooby-Doo animated movie is coming in 2018

Warner Bros. is gassing up the Mystery Machine, as the studio announced it will release a Scooby-Doo animated movie on Sept. 21, 2018.

Based on the beloved Hanna-Barbera franchise, the new Scooby-Doo feature will be a Warner Bros. Pictures presentation under the Warner Animation Group banner.

The film reunites Oscar-nominated producers Charles Roven and Richard Suckle (American Hustle), who previously produced WB’s successful live-action features Scooby-Doo and Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed. Joining them is BAFTA Award-winning producer Allison Abbate (The Iron Giant), who produced the Oscar-nominated features Fantastic Mr. Fox, Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride and Frankenweenie.

Matt Lieberman wrote the film, which will be directed by Tony Cervone, who has history with Shaggy and the gang, having worked on “Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated.” Renowned animation icon Dan Povenmire (“Phineas and Ferb”) will also bring his creative sensibilities to the production as an executive producer.

The announcement was made jointly today by Warner Bros. executives Greg Silverman, Dan Fellman, Sue Kroll and Veronika Kwan Vandenberg.

In making the announcement, Silverman acknowledged, “Like countless fans, I have always loved the Hanna-Barbera cast of characters. As one of their most famous brand ambassadors, Scooby-Doo will take the lead in re-introducing this pantheon of enduringly popular animated stars on a grand scale with an exciting new movie.”

Said Fellman, “It’s always a treat to see Scooby-Doo on the big screen and to share his larger-than-life adventures with audiences. As anticipation grows throughout production, the movie’s mid-September release date should start the fall season with a burst of fun.”

Added Kroll, “It’s wonderful to be working with this talented and inspired team of filmmakers. We couldn’t ask for better producers than Charles Roven, Richard Suckle and Allison Abbate, who have such affection and respect for this property and know the Hanna-Barbera universe so well.”

Kwan Vandenberg further stated, “Scooby-Doo and his friends have the kind of universal appeal that reaches across cultures as well as generations. We expect this new take on the franchise to generate even more fans around the world.”

A little more info, with some talk of a Hanna-Barbara universe being talked about!

Quote:
Warner Bros. Sets Animated ‘Scooby-Doo’ Movie for 2018, More Hanna-Barbera Movies Coming?

Last summer we learned that Warner Bros. was putting together a new big screen version of Scooby-Doo, but at the time it wasn’t clear if it would be another live-action/CG hybrid or if the studio would return to Hanna-Barbera cartoon roots with an animated feature film. Now we have our answer.

The animated Scooby-Doo reboot feature will be an animated film from the Warner Animation Group banner, which had quite a big debut with The LEGO Movie, and they’ve brought in some promising talent with a history bringing Scooby-Doo to life in animated form.

The Wrap reports Tony Cervone will be directing the animated movie, and that’s someone Scooby-Doo fans should be well-acquainted with because he worked on the 2010 incarnation of the show, Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated. That version of the show (pictured above) lasted two seasons for a total of 52 episodes. It was the first version of Scooby-Doo not to be first-run on Saturday mornings, and by episode count, it’s actually the longest running Scooby-Doo series to date.

You may be surprised to hear that this 11th iteration of Scooby-Doo was actually pretty well-received. One writer at The AV Club even put it on their own lists of the Best TV Series of 2012. The series actually added to the back story of Mystery Incorporated, including giving the company a full history with previous young mystery-solvers teaming with animal companions, formalizing romances between Daphne and Fred as well as Velma and Shaggy and it was supposedly chock full of geeky references for fans of all kinds.

It’s not clear if the animated movie will take any of those elements and incorporate them into the big screen story, but having someone who worked on that series take on this feature film sounds like a pretty smart move for producers Charles Roven and Richard Suckle to make. They previously brought the live-action adaptation starring Freddie Prinze Jr, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard and Linda Cardellini to the big screen, and though they weren’t all that well-received, they’re interested in trying again in a different way. Also producing the film is Allison Abbate, of Fantastic Mr. Fox and The Corpse Bride.

The script is coming from writer Matt Lieberman, who previously wrote a straight-to-video Dr. Dolittle sequel, and is also responsible for the Short Circuit reboot script that’s still in development.

In addition, Justin Kroll at Variety threw out some interesting tidbits about other Hanna-Barbera properties that may be on the way. With Scooby-Doo getting a release date, we might be hearing about new big screen attempts at The Flintstones, The Jetsons and Tom & Jerry sometime soon too. But that’s not all.

Supposedly Warner Bros. is interested in possibly creating a sort of Hanna-Barbera big screen universe, not unlike what they’re doing with LEGO properties following the success of The LEGO Movie, as well as the developing DC Comics universe. Here’s what Kroll wrote on Twitter:

Quote:
First, I'm hearing WB is toying to make a push for delivering a type of Hanna-Barbera universe like they are with DC and Lego

Besides SCOOBY DOO, expect news on TOM AND JERRY and FLINTSTONES movie and possibly a JETSONS movie coming out soon now that SCOOBY is dated

Since SCOOBY is an animated feature, don't know if these films will have cross-over compatibility like in DC universe
Considering all the drastically different time periods between at least three of these properties, any crossover to create a big universe for these characters seems like it would be hard to achieve without bringing time travel or portals into the equation. Of course, it’s not like there isn’t a precedent for this kind of thing since The Jetsons and The Flintstones have met before. We’ll keep our ear to the ground to see how this plays out.

Otherwise, unfortunately for Scooby-Doo fans, we’ll be waiting awhile to see this movie, because it won’t hit theaters until September 21st, 2018.

Anyone out there interested in another Scooby-Doo movie?

If they want to cross them over, they could do a Laff-A-Lympics style movie.

This sounds like fun but I agree with other posters, they should keep the current voice cast.
