Oh snap, there's two challenges going on for September?

Still not sure how this month will work out for me, so I'll shoot for 50 or 100 or whatever, and post as appropriate.

My first two main categories to start with shall be:

#1: Sci-Fi (always a requisite for me )

#2: Movies never seen before (of which I have plenty, and I figure this would offer a little more flexibility)

there were two in August as well. Just like this month, one was pure quantity (100) and the other was by category. No way I'm hitting 100, plus I like that the categories push you to watch things you otherwise might not, so I'm sticking with this one.

100 movies is essentially 3 movies a day; 4 on at least 10 of those days. Just boggles the mind. I'm yet to make it to 50 but if the challenge is fun enough, I'm going to give it a go.

I seem to have forgotten about the other August challenge then.

I do agree that the categories are helpful in getting people to watch stuff they normally wouldn't. I don't think I would have ever seen all those sports movies last month otherwise.

Yeah, I have been watching 50-70 new movies from the library every month this year...until my job situation turns around, but I HAD been just knocking them out by year. I started with 1985, then 1990 and starting 1975.

These challenges help cause I have a long list of movies to watch and I just seek out the genres in those years first, then branch to other stuff.

I'd have to check, but I know I have watched nearly 600 movies this year, and I'd bet 90% have been first timers.

well since we have the rest of the majors (drama, comedy, action, etc...) why not just round it out with one of the remaining few, like musicals or family.

maybe Highlander, Heat, Labyrinth or The Fly.
I'm so jealous of you guys with great years to choose from! I don't like anything from mine. Maybe I should lie about my age

I'd have to take 1978, and that year just doesn't look very interesting to me.

1978 is one of the weaker, if not the weakest, year of the 1970s.

Still alot of good stuff though.

•Days of Heaven
•Deer Hunter
•Gates of Heaven
•Halloween
•The Fury
•Superman
•Midnight Express
•Autumn Sonata
•The Driver
•36th Chamber of Shaolin
•The Last Waltz
•Dawn of the Dead

...and many others.

A few of my all time favorites are from '78.
Halloween...but yeah, will probably watch it next month.
Midnight Express, incredibly good prison movie.
The Deer Hunter, what an awesome score!
Watership Down, cartoon that will give kids nightmares for years...I know!

mine would be 1972. A whole lot of nothing. Even the popular ones such as Deliverance, Cabaret - yes, even The Godfather - I don't care for at all.
