any chance of it ever coming to blu ray or should i just give in and buy it on dvd.

it won't be coming to blu ray for a while. At least that's my opinion. It just won't make them that much money. And since Blu-ray isn't that large yet, they still need to fund and replicate discs that will sell well. Blockbuster hits and day and date releases of largely successful films.

Not a Miike fan myself. (Audition is an exploitative, incongruous - not to mention, morally irresponsible - mess. These seem to be elements common throughout Miike's oeuvre.) But anyway, you could hold out for an import release. I can see a European or Japanese region free Blu-ray release in the near future - obviously this is purely speculative. But, as with any movie, if you truly enjoy it, just go for the DVD.
