Very likely because they're simply louder. Human perception perceives "louder" as clearer

Either that or DTS is cooking their mixes again

Except that all things being equal, none of that matters when comparing to an LPCM track of an identical sample rate/bit depth. Both are lossless

like it was stated before, Speilberg has ties to the origin of DTS, so all of his movie soundtracks have always received the "SPECIAL" treatment on the DTS tracks. Almost night and day. Just listen to "Jaws" on both and you will clearly hear a difference.

Bruce ALmighty UK has dts-ma and PCM, but one is Spanish the other English.
