Keep in mind that any tape recorded with Macrovision will refuse to copy (most studio commercial tapes)

You did'nt here this from me, if you hook up a pre-1980 VCR to your recorder you can get around Macrovision!

Good point. Q is how to find pre-1980 VCR. Just do a google search. You could find plenty of video stabilizer boxes that would enable connecting other video devices through a VCR.
