Pretty god-damned amateur to release a product with the wrong specs. Seems lazy from the film companies that the product is not checked thoroughly before release, be interesting to see if any other issues made it through.

Specs on the packaging are prepared by marketing who, in general, don't know what the hell is going on... It could have been mis-listing on the paperwork that was given to them, and no one outside of the Production Manager on the project, saw the revised specs.

I've dealt with this crap for years, you'd be surprised how screwed up the initial specs are when they first go out.

Are you saying you wouldn't have bought it if you knew it was 2.40?

As someone who was a marketing manager for a while I understand that most departments within a company neglect informing Marketing of anything and then get upset when mistakes are made. I would have thought a blu-ray would have been sent to some employees to test who would have picked it up though.

Oh hell no, the people that would test it would be the production managers, not the marketing monkeys. (Sorry... I have little respect for them since most are working in a business where they don't understand their product, they're just number crunchers at this point.)

Even then, but the time marketing would find out, their packaging would be finalized and could not be changed. The windows of a completed Blu-ray/DVD and going to market is about 3-4 weeks max now a days.

It's true, when I was a marketing manager I knew very little about the product and had to wing a lot of copy.

3d on Blu-ray is average. It could of been so much more I went from watching the Hobbit earlier in the day and was set back a bit when I watched Ironman. I did see the trailer for the new Thor movie on Blu-ray, it was awesome I had pretty high expectations for Ironman 3 3d. It was just ok! The airplane scene along with the destruction of Tony's fortress(home) had really good 3d I just wished they amped up the rest of the movie. Good movie IMO. Still a must own for 3d collectors!

I enjoyed this lots and found the 3D great for a conversion. Stereo D have again outdone themselves and I would highly recommend it.

Lucky you then, the aussie version doesnt. We do have a look at the making of Thor The Dark world on the 2D disc.

Best Buy is asking 31.99 for the 3D version. That is an insane price. WTF are they thinking?

They're thinking, "Hmm... Disney set MSRP at $50 and Amazon's currently got it listed at $36 so we'll probably clean up on release day."

Just a reminder..

Avengers was $30 the week before release>25>19,99 on release day (on Amazon).

If Disney continues raising the prices for their mediocre releases they will see some marvelous cancellations from me.

The Nightmare before Christmas was $32,99 on release day.

Hobbit 3D is mostly medium 3D with strong 3D scenes like the Goblin Cave Village, and I felt Iron Man 3's 3D, while not filmed 3D, still has nice 3D layering with medium double image separation when flipping up the glasses, though not in every shot. I'll check out the Blu Ray 3D soon enough to be certain. Thanks.

Stereo D also did the medium/strong conversion of Star Trek Into Darkness. Didn't they also work on Pacific Rim's strong 3D? That must be a big crew of stereo artists.

Thor Dark World's 3D I caught a few times now in theaters, and I don't want to say it, but the 3D is good, but not quite medium 3D. More along the lines of just above mild 3D. Then they played other 3D trailers before and after it, and Thor Dark World's 3D trailer paled in comparison. I hope I'm wrong about this, but I checked the double image separation during the trailers, and there wasn't much blurring. The First Thor movie was a lot of fun, cool movie.

That's a bummer. I hope the US version includes the 3D trailer.

You're right, I remember the price was high and dropped to 20 bucks last minute to beat the competition.
Iron Man 3, a good action movie, will be a good seller along the lines of other Marvel Titles. A must buy title for me and my favorite Iron Man movie, being a mild fan of part I and II. Tony Stark's character really shined in Avengers.

Hosted my 3D screening of the movie for my nieces (who wanted to watch the 3D Thor Trailer, the 2D Thor feature, and the Agent Carter feature too).
The 3D looked good, with some solid depth and fun pop-out.
Thanks Amazon.it for getting the steelbook here so early!

I'm guessing you ordered this from amazon.uk or overseas. Glad to hear it lived up to expectations.

Yes, Amazon in Italy. Was the cheapest 2d/3d steelbook option at the time I was ordering. In fact looking at the best buy flyer and amazon, it's pretty competitively priced all around for a 3D set for this title.
