It's all a matter of context.... We never actually did see the Surface of Aleraan in Episode 4...

This. I feel like an imbecile just for liking Ep. 1, but I do... people need to relax and stop thinking that their opinions are fact.

I wish we could finally get the 3D release on blu-ray. I've been waiting since it came out, and it's too bad they delayed the Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith 3D especially considering they would have been coming out in just a few weeks.

Any idea when this might be released stand alone?
lol, funny trolling is always appreciated over mean spirited ones, kudos

I stand by my "wait, what?" comment. because the OP makes it sound like he only watches that film. Whether one likes the original trilogy, the prequel trilogy, or both, I've never heard anyone say they only like one film in a trilogy and doesn't want to watch the others. That's like saying one likes the first few chapters of a novel but doesn't care to read the rest. My comment wasn't intolerant, it was registering confusion.

Fact: opinions are not fact.

Fact: message boards are for voicing opinions as well as other information.

I have admitted here that I like all the Star Wars films. I've only expressed that I don't relate to someone who claims Episode 1 to be their favorite, albeit with condescension in my tone. My apologies. I didn't realize that making fun of someone who is in love with one of the prequels is akin to racism.

He doesn't BUILD Threepio, he found the parts in the junk yard and assembled him. It's not like he built the droid from scratch.

I think its just due to the fact that Episode 1 not commonly liked (in fact its commonly hated )

It is always interesting to find someone who likes E1.

Oh, anyone can do that. heh

But seriously, that does change things. I thought he actually built C3PO, instead of just re-assembling him from old parts. That's still impressive in my book.

I think it was confirmed in an episode of The Clone Wars that he was originally from elsewhere.

There was a prequel comic that showed Anakin finding the parts at Wattos shop. So he took them home.

Episode 4:
Owen: "I have no need for a Protocol Droid!"
C-3PO "Of course you don't, sir."

Episode 1:
Anakin: "I'm building a Protocol Droid to help mom!"

If Owen doesn't need one, what makes Anakin think his mom, who is a Slave, thinks that one will help them in any way????

Anakin didn't know about Protocol droids, I guess.

Yeah, maybe he thought protocol was a fancy name for house cleaner.

I actually LOVE Episode 1. Sure, there are parts I dislike (like Anakin "accidentally" blowing up the command ship --- "let's try rolling, that's a good trick... whooooaaaaaaahhhhh" --- it would have been much better in my opinion if he would have been as confident in the dogfight as he was in the podrace, but whatever).

That said, there is a LOT to love. First and foremost I love the almost perfect mix of practical effects with CGI. Of the prequels, Ep 1 LOOKS the most like Star Wars. Eps 2 & 3 look good, but they are so CGI'd that they almost don't fit in with the others. Ep 1 doesn't have that problem. Second, the Darth Maul / Qui Gon / Obi Wan fight is the best saber duel of the series. The Pod Race is awesome. I love Coruscant.

It's true that Jar Jar is annoying, but I almost see him as the C-P3O figure of this trilogy, and in that vein, he's not too bad. I truly believe that if Eps 4, 5, & 6 came out today... people would HATE 3P0 almost as much as they hate Jar Jar.

Kudos to the OP for not being "trendy"

I saw 6 in a Drive-In!

That said, I prefer Episodes 1, 2 & 3.

They just have much more story and plot than the OT's "Hey, let's fight the Empire"

At least the PT gives a reason for why the Empire is so bad and needs to be overthrown... The OT doesn't, we just take the Rebel's word for it...

Maybe someday Gregory Maguire, who specializes in turning fairy tales upside down and writing them from a different perspective, such as "Wicked" and "Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister", will re-write Star Wars from the perspective of the Empire and/or Darth Vader.

One can easily see the Jedi as a radical ultra-conservative religious order who preached non-violence and avoiding anger, but was actually frequently very angry, very violent and also was extremely incompetent.

Maybe Anakin went nuts because he was kidnapped away from his family at a very young age and made part of this religious order, who enforced no family ties and a sexually repressed life (even though Anakin eventually cheated). But this "secret" relationship with Padame could have made him feel guilty and could have caused mental instability.

Or maybe the high level of midi-chlorians in his body simply made him completely psychotic.
