Just because you pre-ordered on the first day gives you no right to receive it before anyone else, get a tissue and dry your eyes.
Coming from a guy that uses a word like "bollocks."

Actually, it suitably accomplished conveying to the other members the level of their displeasure with it not being in true 3D. Just like 4EverJohnnyBoy keeps stressing the same things because he feels confronted or antagonized whenever someone acts like he shouldn't. Why do people come to a forum there for communicative purposes and then always seem to forget that that's what it's there for (even while they themselves are using it for that very thing)?

I am sure that this was brought up at some point, but I just don't understand what the issue with the Friday the 13th 3D Blu Ray is. When the film came out in the 1980s, "realD" or whatever we have today didn't exist. Back then, it was the classic blue and red paper glasses in ANAGLYPH 3D, just like on the Blu Ray!

Making it into "real 3D" as everyone keeps saying would actually alter the original format of film! What are we, Ted Turner?!

this is totally incorrect. There were indeed theaters that showed Friday the 13th in "RealD". Same applies to Jaws 3D if I am not mistaken.

Umm... dude, Friday the 13th Part 3 was shot the SAME way 3D movies today are shot and presented, the same way it was done in the 50s, and the same way it was done during WWII in Germany: Using two different prints for each eye and then presenting them together to create a 3D effect. The glasses given to people seeing Friday the 13th Part 3D in theaters were the same polarized glasses that are handed out to people seeing 3D movies in theaters today.

I know that the process of using two cameras is the same. However, the blue/red anaglyph image is unique to the presentation of the "old" kind of 3D technology, whereas today the image is "normal" looking (for lack of the correct terms). Admittedly I was not quite alive when Friday the 13th 3D came out (I was born in the year of The Final Chapter), but some of my friends saw a showing of an original print years ago and it was indeed in the blue/red 3D format, which is definitely NOT still used today. The blue/red 3D is the type presented on the Blu Ray.

Am I to understand that Paramount didn't actually use the actual 3D print for the Blu Ray and instead manufactured a "fake" 3D image? If that is true, then I will take back what I said.

This might seem like a stupid question, but I haven't really been following the blu ray news of the Friday the 13th series... is this documentary in the Friday the 13th Collection?

I've actually never seen all the films before, and the ones that I have seen were out of order. So I'd like to get into it now. I'm probably gonna buy this in a few weeks, after I put some time into GTA5(SO EXCITED!)

There is a bonus disc of extras included in the boxed set, but there is also a new release called Crystal Lake Memories that is a 4 disc set (5 if you get the bonus disc) that contains over 7 hours of documentary footage. That is NOT included in the movie boxed set.

Mine should be in the mail today, can't wait to get off work & check it out!!

I doubt I'll watch the whole thing tonight, but if I have nothing else to do after work, then it might be a plan for this evening!

Red green 3/d was never the intended form of display for this film. Proper 3d has been around and projected in cinemas with polarised 3d for decades.

So the film was originally projected in stereoscopic 3D (I think that is the right term) without the blue/red coloring? I guess I am not properly remembering what my friends said about the showing of the film. I could have sworn they were excited that they got the old time glasses at the theatre.

This means that Paramount did make a "fake" 3D image (not true to the theatrical presentation) for the Blu Ray then?

I will totally admit if I am wrong here. This is interesting stuff.

And this film was released on laserdisc with the proper polarized 3d (not red/blue).
It was an Asian VHD (Video High Density) laserdisc and was 'field sequential'. Here's some info on it:

Country: Japan
Street Date: 1986
Publisher: CIC Video
UPC: 4975769024702
Picture: Letterboxed
Ratio: 2.35:1
Sides: 4
Manufactured by: Victor (VHD)

Hope this helps! I know there are quite a few bootleg dvd's out there that used this as a source.

Rick

One person's copy (autographed) sold for $500!!! But, before anyone gets too excited... notice that the feedback is private on the buyer. I doubt the seller ever sees a dime.

Seems to be selling around the $127 mark right now as legitimate. Kind of hard not to unload as it's a one time viewing kind of thing and would help buy upcoming releases.

So, I can't really say I blame those who sold it.

I would because it would cover Halloween 35th and others... It would even pay for the purchase of the Friday the 13th collection - but I own it already.

It's crazy. Almost makes me want to sell my autographed copy and then just get a regular unsigned version. But the collector in me will make me hang on to it....
