People need to realize that companies like Rotel do no have the R&D dollars of mainstream companies like Onkyo etc. Expecting a product from them with all the bells and whistles is silly, especially when all the bells and whistles are not needed to take advantage of listening to HD audio. You want all the bells and whistles, then get an Onkyo. You want quality (both sonically and in build) then get a Rotel. Too many people forget about sound quality and go after the latest gimmicky thing. You have a player (PS3) that fully decodes both HD formats, why do you need a pre/pro to do that again? You aren't bit-streaming anything. It's completely pointless. Take a step back and evaluate what it is you are buying, and then ask why you are buying it and what you are gaining from your purchase.
I agree with you ! I did say it was a rumor that I heard from the dealer that Rotel will release new products that will have the HD sound. They say the R&D was just waiting out the format war. Now, they are moving forward. Marantz has their new models slated for a June 07 release and they have the new HD codecs. You are right about sonic quality. It does sound sweet !
