I am in the process of building a HTPC. Its a mini-itx form factor and is small for a desktop. I will have it capable of storing all my digital copies. Then hook up the rest of the house where its possible to stream any movie in my htpc to any TV in the house.

I've been connected since ATI (now AMD) put S-video on their AIW cards and running a AMD K6-2. Used to take 1-2 weeks to download a pixelated movie on free dial-up and then watch it on my top of the line 26" floor model tv

How times have changed...

My HTPC serves as my prepro!!! I can stream anything I want through it to any of the 3 HTPC's in my home. I can also stream to my hand held android devices or my iPad if I want to. Two of my HTPC's have Asus Essence ST soundcards - the other is connected via hdmi to an onkyo 606 receiver in my bedroom. I can happily say that I will more than likely never buy a receiver again.

I built a HTPC last spring. Its an ITX form factor with a small gloss black case. I have an i3 ivy bridge processor in it with the Intel HD 4000 vid chip and the Envy HD audio chip. I run a single HDMI out to my Onkyo 818. Works beautifully. I have a 256 gig SSD for Win 7 and a 3 gig WD hard drive for my recorded tv shows and BD movies. I have a Ceton Infinity 4 tv card in it. I would never go back to a BD player or regular Cable box. I can control everything from my Tablet or Phone. And no,its not Apple stuff..

huh 3 gig WD? I hope that's a mistake

My system I'm using now but not using it as intended right now, I'm going to switch the mobo out for one that has a HDMI port so I don't have to do a DVI to HDMI and another for optical audio.

My form factor is a Micro-ATX I've built a Mini-ITX but it's a little too cramped and concerned about heat for some of the stuff I will be using.

Heh I knew what you meant I wanted to keep my case smooth and light so I would be running a 120GB SSD and a 1TB 2.5" hdd

I still have my first SSD, I ended up buying it and using it for 2 years as a test bed for long term, I'd love to have a larger drive but my case wont allow more then 2 drives unless I delete the BD drive I will be putting in which I don't see that happening, from what I understand computer BD drives are region free?

I have my PC run to a big screen, but to the home theater through the Tivo. Also the Smart TV function of my Panasonic can pull content from my networked PC, or stream from all the pay services. If I'm using the Panasonic, all of that will play through the home theater receiver.

I built my own HTPC, which connects to my HP Microserver in the study over ethernet. XBMC bitstreams HD audio/1080p to my receiver. Just spent the weekend configuring the receiver remote to control everything, bluray player, TV and HTPC. The LibCEC adaptor is the best component of the whole setup, allows control of the HTPC and XBMC through HDMI, basically whatever remote you are using.

I just bought a Alienware X51 desktop. And my plan is to conect it to my onkyo reciever.
My thought is to have the pc being able to play region A discs.

You will be happy with it.. I used to get DD True HD and DTS MA with Jriver and now I'm not getting it with Jriver or XBMC. I'm not sure if the audio chip stopped decoding it. If I try with Jriver it gives me an error. If I try it with XBMC,its super choppy and won't barely run.

I love my HTPC, it is an integral part of my Theatre. I've just about stopped using my AppleTV, only use that for occasional music listening (I've started to listen to more vinyl so that has made my AppleTV get even less use). I've also pretty much stopped using my PS3, the only reason I use that is if I rent from the RedBox or if I want to watch a 3D movie... which is extremely rare circumstances. I run mediabrowser 3 and love it.
