Canada RUSH - "CLOCKWORK ANGELS Tour" - Blu-ray/CD/DVD - Out 11/19/13

NOTE: This release has a listed Run Time of 242 minutes.

Trailer:

Quote:
RUSH's Clockwork Angels Tour captures the Rock & Roll Hall of Famers' 2012-2013 sold-out tour from a unique point-of-view approach to filmmaking utilizing distinct composition and a voyeuristic style that at varying moments puts the viewer on the stage, at the side of the stage, and throughout the arena. For the first time ever the legendary band (Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, Neil Peart) was accompanied on this tour by an eight-piece string section! This electrifying 2-DVD or single Blu-ray concert (both formats contain the same content) features over 3 hours of music including favorites Tom Sawyer and The Spirit of Radio, 3 drum solos, new string arrangements of classics such as YYZ, Dreamline and Red Sector A, and rarely performed songs such as The Body Electric and Middletown Dreams. Extensive bonus features include a full version of Limelight from soundcheck and an exclusive backstage documentary shot throughout Europe. With over 40 million albums sold worldwide and more consecutive gold and platinum awards than any other rock band following The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, Rush remains one of the most inventive, compelling, and relevant musical groups today.

Thumbs down

Too bad we're not going to get a 40th Anniversary Tour next year though

Quote:
For the first time in well over a decade, Rush have absolutely no idea what they're doing next. They just wrapped a long world tour in support of their 2012 LP Clockwork Angels and have yet to seriously discuss the future. Their manager wants them to launch a tour next year to celebrate the 40th anniversary of drummer Neil Peart joining the group.

"That's not going to happen though," Geddy Lee tells Rolling Stone at the bar of a swanky downtown New York hotel. "My attitude is that as much as I'd like to celebrate 40 years, we need a break more than we need a 40th anniversary celebration. There's nothing wrong with celebrating 42 years."

Geddy opened up about Rush's uncertain future, their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the group's upcoming live CD/DVD Clockwork Angels Tour (out November 19th), the new remix of Vapor Trails and why fans shouldn't expect to see a 2112 tour anytime soon.

I saw the Original tour for the TIME MACHINE Tour, where they played a couple songs from "Clockwork Angels", but well before they revamped the tour/setlist, with the string section on-stage. Can't wait to see this, & of course, will get the CD set as well.

I wish that I had seen Rush earlier, but the 1st time I saw them was during the "Roll The Bones" tour in 92.

Amazon shows this as just one disc. There is a CD you can buy separately.

I wish Rush was my favorite band...they get such awesome Blu-rays. I think among other bands that only the Stones get more releases in terms of concert BDs. I know about 4 or 5 of their songs from hearing them in TV shows and movies all the time (Fanboys, Freaks & Geeks, I Love You Man, etc.) and I think they're great. I'm gonna blind buy a release one of these days. This particular one sounds awesome with the string arrangement. But I might go for R30 as a blind buy instead.

The R30 and Time Machine Concerts are a great way to fill in a mix of their material. heck time machine has the entire Moving Pictures album in order. I didn't think the set list for Snakes and Arrows was as strong as R30 but I will be picking this one up for sure. Another 3+ hour show. These guys really love to play and they definitely give the audience their money's worth.

Wow, way too many newer songs in that 2nd setlist.

I have every DVD & Blu-ray release up to now, but I may just pass on this one until the price is right.

How can you have too many newer songs on a concert disk that was recorded to promote the new songs in the first place??

I may still get this for the hell of it, even though I loathe this album. It's so lame, but I feel like I just need to own all of their live releases.
