I met him a few years back and likewise found him very pleasant, i was wearing a Star Wars baseball cap and after he sighed a picture he said "Chuck me your cap" and he sighed that as well and said something like "If anybody asks you paid double for 2 autographs"

Season 5 of the Clone Wars should be getting announced today or later this weekend. Obi-Wan will be on the cover I think. Same extras as usual. No Bonus Content as yet.

I haven't been a regular viewer of the show - I think I watched about half of the first series and got distracted - but I'm definitely considering picking up the complete box set. The animation's excellent and I really liked how they gave personality to the clones.

Hopefully the new show's up to the same standard.

Dave Filoni is heavily involved again and the new guys seem to be big names in the world of animation so I have great faith in Rebels.

As for the Clone Wars, if you enjoyed what you saw then you'll love the rest (the odd arc aside) of the series. There are some great Clone-centric arcs throughout the series.

Saying that. The "Bonus content" which may have as many as 16 episodes hasn't been given a release date (or even a format). My guess would be that there'll be another box set to follow. Not saying you should hold off but I said I'd say it anyway just in case.

I did hear about the missing episodes. I'm surprised they're not including them in the new box sets. It would certainly add another incentive for viewers to pick the new sets up.

They are/were produced by Lucasfilm under Disney, while the previous 5 seasons were released by Warner Bros.

If they never release the original theatrical trilogy, then at least the "despecialized" versions vastly improve upon the poor 4:3 DVDs.
Here's a comparison between the Star Wars Theatrical LE 4:3 DVD vs Star Wars Despecialized Edition 2.1 (720p, by Harmy)

I'm a complete tech retard with things like this.

So, if you don't mind cause I'm interested if this sort of thing. The pics which are DVD, are these from the limited edition releases a while ago, like 5 yrs or so ago, which included the original unaltered versions?

The last pic which looks a lot clearer. Is this from the recent (only) Blu Ray release? Or is this the same DVD release but on an upscaling player (think all BR players upscale?)

Sorry to ask what most on here will think is a very basic question.

It's from a fan-edit (created from various sources if I remember). I don't think we're allowed to talk about it detail. So I'll have to whisper...

Yeah chip75 is right, a fan edit, I was comparing it with the 2nd disc of the LE DVD;

Short of watching the LaserDiscs (which was the source of the 4:3 DVD), it's the only legitimate way to watch the unedited films. But they are also pretty shoddy quality.
If they ever sold the original theatrical trilogy on blu-ray I'd pre-order in a heartbeat.

I'll probably wait until late next year, to see if they announce the OUT on Blu-ray, if they don't then i'll watch the Despecialized editions, which i hear are being released on Blu-ray aswell. I was never a die hard fan but REALLY want to see Episode VII at the theatre.

I do but £40 is too much. I don't think this set will ever go cheap.

Still hoping for theatrical versions. Thinking they will crop up within the next couple of years. Let's hope they're sensibly priced and not with loads of crappy UV codes or whatnot...though we could be screwed. Disney don't have the rights to distribute the originals yet do they? Do Fox still have them?

I'm surprised they've never released the theatrical versions. Fox must know the large majority of the fan base want the originals over the later edits, and even if they didn't they must know they would want them as well. Most fans would buy both, but I'm still waiting for the PROPER versions. Annoyingly I only have Empire on DVD (2-disc with both cuts) and none of the others. I have Jedi on VHS but my VCR won't work with the new telly.

I did notice they are releasing Star Wars trilogies on DVD again. Anyone know if they're just the Lucas re-edits, the original theatrical cuts, or both? Can't seem to find out what they are.

I'm not sure but I doubt they'll have the theatrical versions from the limited edition and previous box set. I think FOX are trying to get everything they can before Disney take over. Maybe FOX will release the originals themselves? I watched a featurette the other day circa the first special editions and Lucas said he had to get FOX to agree with re-doing the SFX.

The original trilogy needs to be restored and I think eventually we'll see the originals and a new special edition. I don't care about the special editions they can do what they like! Just give us our theatricals!

You think Disney, famous for its creation of artificial scarcity, is going to just let Fox piss all over it's plans to make a killing when most of the films revert back them in 2020?

The only ones currently receiving golden showers are the fans. For me £45 is too much, I have no interest in 1-3 and 4-6 in their special state so it would be £45 for 2 of the extras discs.
