I dl'ed the movie from YT last night and captured the closed caption .srt file from it, and was editing some of the timings in the file... got it a lot better timed than it had been...

No one depicts the flow of time as Matoko Shinkai. That was just plain good.

Probably a dumb question, but it was the cat narrating right? He did a similar short before called She and Her Cat. He always JUST perfectly gets the balance right with melancholy.

Interesting idea

I doubt it will be backed though.

Since I'm new to buying the JP Ghibli Blu-rays and looking to buy them all down the road, I thought I'd ask here: do Amazon Japan and/or the other usual import sites have Black Friday / Cyber Monday sales? If so, have the JP Ghibli Blu-rays been discounted by much during those sales?

I hope it doesn't get funded... and I'm one of the biggest Ghibli fans out there, just like the rest of you on this board.

Seriously, that trailer and pitch just reeks of trying to make money off of serious fans with a rip-off premise film that really doesn't have much to do with Mononoke at all, but enough so that fans will be enticed into donating. The filmmakers should have asked Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli about the rights to make the film also, if they felt the story was good enough and important enough to tell.

Make something that's attempting to be original, not something that is simply piggybacking off of a masterpiece. Or go to Hollywood and convince people that your movie should be made, but do it the right way with the support given by Ghibli and not simply from asking for funding from Ghibli fans.

Not that I care (as I'm not backing the project), but the fan film is not being made for profit. The fund raising is for making the movie.

For legal reasons, especially, I agree with this point, but as it's a non-profit project, there's probably not much Studio Ghibli could do, even if it disagreed with the production of this fan film.

From what I know about yesasia, they didn't have ever these Blurays on sale.
Maybe someone could correct me about this.

but at least, with the yen dropping, they are much cheaper now than what they were 1-2 years ago.

Nice, I prefer the cover of the right one, but the inside of the digipack is really awesome!
Meanwhile in Germany... still waiting for the theatrical release in November -.-

Lol, Numbers!

eh, I still prefer the JP sillhouette imports better - never really was interested in collecting steelbooks at all. But, they will be a nice choice for anyone with Region B capabilities.

I'll admit, I am slightly interested in these steelbooks. I'd need to see full pics of one before considering to triple dip. Definitely not high on my priority list though. Lol, might as well just get a version from every region.

Hate Steelbooks, so an easy no.

I'm also only missing 4 of the JP sets, so I should focus on that.

Just placed an order for Only Yesterday, From Up On Poppy Hill, and the Joe Hisaishi 25 year celebration concert!

Watched some clips from the concert on youtube, and it looks amazing. Can't wait to listen to it!
