Finally got this after visiting a couple walmarts with empty 3D shelves. And yes, they had Iron Man 3 3D listed at 36.99$ but she priced checked it at the register and it sold for 24.99$. The last 2 copies at the store also. Thanks for the heads up for walmart.

Mixed reviews on the 3D I see. On both Active Sony Bravia and Passive Vizio 3D screens, Iron Man 3's 3D is a combination of medium to strong 3D, with some weak 3D here and there, and intentionally unconverted 2D TV news coverage in the movie. Strong 3D example in Iron Man 3: At 28:57 minutes into the movie, you'll see the following 3D shot: "Is someone gonna kill this guy?" asks the news reporter to Tony Stark. Pause the screen, then press down select to get rid of the progress indicator and it'll convert back to 3D. That shot, with Tony's face on the left side wearing his blue shades, blue shirt and black sweater, while the reporter on the right side is holding up his smartphone camera and the reports in the background against the brick wall is clear proof of strong 3D layer separation. Take off your glasses and the double image is off the charts strong. There are a number of these strong 3d shots in the movie, but yes, not as many as Pacific Rim's 3D, which is more consistent. Even so, I'm satisfied with Iron Man's 3D overall, and rate it as mostly medium 3D/very good 3D. Comparable with The Wolverine 3D. So is the 3D in Iron Man 3 3D worth it? For $24.99, heck yeah. Very nice and fun 3D experience. Vizio and Sony Bravia both give off bright 3D outputs. Could it have been a little more consistent. Yes. The ash explosion scene near the Chinese Theater with Jon Favreau also has some strong 3D, and the digital ashes look beautiful in strong 3D. Quote:

Thor 2 Dark World 3D is on the disc preview in 3D. The movie looks promising, but the 3D, average 3D at best in that preview if compared to Pacific Rim's stronger 3D. And even Iron Man 3's 3D. I hope this is only the case for the Thor 2 preview and the movie ends up with stronger 3D than what is shown. Blur separation is mild to medium in Thor 2's 3D trailer. And another great 3D scene? The attack on Stark's home base among others. Some strong 3D there confirmed by removing your glasses to check the strong blur separation. Last edited by Zivouhr; 09-26-2013 at 08:50 PM. |
